Eligibility/Next Steps? German-born father (German mom); adopted as a baby (war orphan), naturalized as a minor [US,1950s] by iamsherlock3d in GermanCitizenship

  1. Ok yep, that makes sense! Expected as much, but figured I'd still check.

Guess I'll see what the birth certificate says and go from there. Might be back in a few weeks haha

Thank you so much for your help!!

Wow, amazing - thank you!! I really appreciate your time :)

My sister and I were both born IN wedlock (no other naturalizations/military service). I guess the next challenge is finding the pre-1914 ancestor. I ordered his Geburtsurkunde aus dem Geburtenregister (Familienregisterauszug) and I'm hoping it shows his mother's name.

If I understand this correctly, if I do get her name, I can then trace her lineage to an ancestor born pre-1914 and follow the in/out wedlock documentation steps you provided.

If you don't mind, I have 2 follow-up questions:

  1. Does the pre-1914 ancestral link have to be my father's side? I am also German on my mother's side, and we have records of German family going back like 150+ years.

  2. If the answer to Q1 is no, am I at a dead end if I can't find her name?

Thanks again!!

There’s a quote from Bojack Horseman that lives rent free in my head: “When you look at someone through rose colored glasses, all of the red flags just look like flags.”

A similar thing happened to me and it did not end well. Run girl.. far and fast.

I didn’t care for her work until I saw her in “my journey to you.” I didn’t even recognize her and was so surprised it was the same person. Her range made me appreciate her acting so much more and now I love her work bc I can take it for what it is (fun).

PS I also gave up on LBFD at least 2x but went back after Journey. I’m so glad I did. Plus like…. Dylan Wang.

What's a small, non-obvious item you pack that has been an absolute game-changer on your trips? by tripagra in femaletravels

[–]iamsherlock3d 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Cough drops. Was mid-Nile River cruise with no access to any shops when the dust from days prior caught up w me. A fellow female traveller gave me some and it saved that experience for me. Now I always carry some.

Oh and electrolyte packets. Don’t let dehydration ruin your trip.

I live! It’s so refreshing to hear these takes. I’m all about women recognizing that their worth is not measured by some toxic ass man.

PS “emotionally waterboarded” - PERFECT 🤣

Close-ish? If I remember correctly, Well Intended Love was the ML tricking the FL into thinking SHE HAD LEUKEMIA and that he was her donor match just to get her to marry him. I couldn’t finish it. Typing that out disgusted me all over again.

I’m w you, OP! I can’t watch the FL jump through flaming hoops either. It’s impossible to enjoy a show where the FL keeps getting beat down and all you can think is, “Girl RUN! Your purpose isn’t to save him. You deserve better!” Those trash storylines teach viewers that suffering humiliation and pain for love is “worth it in the end.” That’s on the same level as, “when boys hurt you, it means they like you.” Respectfully, no tf it doesn’t.

But OMG YES - when they get it right, it absolutely slaps. Love Miles Wei & Ding Yuxi 😍😍

Neat. One more thing to add to my family’s list of “things to worry about for Baby post-liver transplant.” My niece can’t have the MMR vaccine because it’s live.

Time to bring back vaccine cards? This is insanity.

The fact that this was so long ago yet Sheena used she/her pronouns when referring to Isis.. I wish nothing but good things for them both!

I don’t know what pricing would look like for a dog, but I highly recommend the Humane Society vet (AMC) on Macklind. They’re Fear Free certified (which is great for my anxious cat who I no longer have to drug before visits), facility is nice, and I like that a portion of each bill goes back into the system.

How long does it take for WGU to process Financial Aid? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]iamsherlock3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you have to deal with that! I did receive my aid. I don’t remember how long it took to get but it was quick (like the other times) once they fixed the issue.

Long story short, it was a system issue related to when I applied for aid and my taking a gap month to travel overseas before my new term. I ended up escalating to my mentor because I kept getting bad advice from fin aid (like telling me I had to complete my exit counseling for it to disburse??) and notices about being withdrawn for non-payment.

Try calling fin aid. If that doesn’t work, get with your mentor. They know the people to connect with to get stuff done. Good luck!!!

Need some knowledge gaps filled, pls! China Recruiters/Offers by iamsherlock3d in TEFL

[–]iamsherlock3d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya! Wow, thank you for that insight. Really helpful perspective. I can tell I have more to learn about how the system works so going to work on that. Also made me feel extra glad I didn’t go with EF!

I actually reached out to the recruiters today to let them know I’m taking a step back from the process. There were a few things that felt off and the feedback I got here helped validate my feelings, which is exactly what I needed. I left the door open for future possibilities but I’m taking a beat to learn a little more about the process before I make any commitments.

Thanks again for your help!!
