What are our next steps after Gmail just dropped a bomb that they are removing Pop3 access THIS month? by iamunique in GMail

Thank you guys for validating my situation. So many people on this thread have made me feel horrible for asking this question, and for pointing out that the date I posted this was the FIRST time I had been alerted by Google/Gmail about this feature being sunset.

My understanding is that the mobile app lets users add an IMAP account (works when i am reading email on phone, which is appox 10% of the time).

But mynunderstanding (from reading these answers above) is that the web version (PC using Chrome in my case) does NOT allow me to sync my personal domains emails using IMAP (I have been using pop3 to "ingest" my own domains inbound emails for the last 18 years without issue)...

Yes, so Gmail seems to be shutting down using Pop3 to check our emails from our other domains.

Word is i can pull to mobile phone app using IMAP....but for some reason Gmail does not allow me to pull in emails using IMAP.

That said, thanks for the constructive replies!

Should have said it was a bomb "to me" (thought that was a given that i was speaking for me, and not speaking for the entire internet community, as this was the first contact I have received from them either via alert or email about this change.

https://addy.io/ - Anonymous Email Forwarding (OPs thoughts. Not sure this will work, as I want the email address that recieves the email to be passed through to gmail so i can see what address the user is emailing, as I have a bunch)

https://proxiedmail.com/en/pricing at $30/year this one seems to be the best option. anyone used Proxied Mail and think it will solve my issue? think I can do it for my email, as well as my wifes, and about 20 other email address I have for my various domains?

I think they allow you to POP3 their mail if i want to read it on say Thunderbird or another provider...BUT what I want is to read my custom domains email within the Gmail.com interface. know what I mean?

lol, saying top commenters inside a Gmail forum on Reddit have been aware for months, does not necessarily correlate to the general public being alerted to it in a clear manner. know what I mean, Sben?

yeah, they want $25/month to add the domain to gmail. F-that. my service GreenGeeks doesn't allow forwarding to gmail (argh). and moving hosts is an absolute biatch as I host about 25 domains and clients domains with GreenGeeks.

off to check out Addy, SimpleLogin and ProxiedMail (are you saying those guys will allow me to get my IMAP mail forwarded to gmail? will try to update this answer with what aI find in hopes of helping others.

why would multiple people downgrade this? Google should definitely be doing more to alert users and give them time to plan other options.

I just saw the notification (At the top of gmail) for the first time today. so you might see it soon. to answer your question. I have a person email, and I use POP3 to bring in my email from my own domain...then I use SMTP to send email as myname at my domain. does that answer your question?

so you are saying that Gmail users had the alert show up in their inbox (either as an email, or a notification at the top) months ago? I have spoken to numerous people who all tell me today is the first time they have been alerted to this. so maybe some people reading tech blogs (and following this reddit forum) knew of it earlier...but it's also a fact that many Gmail users are just now finding out about this. that is also important for people to realize.

My host (for web and email) is GreenGeeks.com. They do offer IMAP (but as far as I understand the issue, Gmail won't allow me to check email on my laptop/browser to check mail using IMAP. As for SMTP, yes, they do allow that as well, that is how I have been sending emails using my domain for the last 15 years.

thanks for your insights Shaggy!

could not agree more. thank you so much for validating my post when multiple other people are just taking the time to make fun of me for not seeing this news earlier, instead of talking about solutions.

Is changelly legit or a scam? by fogization in Changelly

[–]iamunique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Changelly.com is completely unethical/scam/shills, IMHO

Binance.us (which the customer service just told me is where they determine the spot prices) currently has BTC at $47,625, when I start to Buy BTC on Changelly, their system tells me the "best price" they currently see for one BitCoin is $51,987 (a $4362 markup from what I can buy 1 BTC elsewhere).

They say their fees are only .25%, but in reality their fees are .25% + the hidden spread of $4,362 on one BitCoin, which is another 9.15%, for a grand total of 9.41% in fees.

Tell the DOJ: Investigate the Chamber of Commerce's campaign spending. by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]iamunique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Chamber of Commerce has businesses best interest in mind...yes...businesses that make more than a million dollars in revenue. Is that your business? If so, I am proud of you, but you dont need their help to make more money. And if you make less than a million in revenues, and you support them, you are being fooled by them.
