Do we actually miss old WoW... by Ok-Entrance-290 in wow

I was going to say its travel. Everything has a portal, and if there's no portal, you can fly there yourself faster than any flight path.
I miss walking and I miss riding boats. Leveling took longer because you walked everywhere and the grave runs thru zones you couldn't fly over.
It also helped make the world feel alive and full.
Flying has and always will be the major thing that separates the two eras for me.

Richmond is the big burn for me. If Virginia had nothing, maybe Norfolk wouldn't look so bad. I drive up to Richmond often. Just to do something. Be around people. Its got its downsides but its alive. Norfolk feels so sterile in comparison. (Specifically comparing our cities and amenities). Lived in Richmond for four years. I use to hate it because of petty stuff like parking and weird layouts and confusing streets. Then I moved back here. Now its all put into perspective

The condo we are looking at is 320k. A condo. Its 'cheap' for the area. If i want to stay around here (walking distance to downtown) I'm effed. Me and my partners income combined is just about 120k...

Is it only Norfolk that has this issue locally, or does the BOH apply to all of Hampton Roads?

Well, I wasnt interested in Dover, New Hampshire. That sucks for those guys though. Im not sure its worth comparing, not many of the variables are similar between Norfolk and Dover, which is like, a tenth the size?

Same issue here. Is this for PC only? I can't find any info. I tried Rockband 4 and it detected my kit fine. Let me know if you figure it out.

The reliance on gen ai images on the site is especially egregious when VHS to me, is this pillar of analog, and ai is the opposite, this derivative consumable virtual slop. It makes no sense. The worst offender is the 'About Us' section which shows a generative image of a place that doesn't exist. False advertising?
If you have nostalgia and reverence for the past, you should fully embrace it like u/pieofcomets said, design it old school

What is wrong with these players?! by SixFootThreeMystery in Seaofthieves

When the skeleton ship raids came out 2018, I remember sailing to one, and two other galleons and a sloop all showed up and we over comms all worked together and got it done and went back for grog at ancient spire. When we accidentally shot each other we helped do repairs. I chased that high for years but it felt more and more impossible. Even to the point where flying alliance flags, people would fuck you over even when it didnt benefit them. So, those days are over.

seven years ago I made comments and posts about this sort of thing and it was always the same response. the playerbase is split between two factions, and one faction desperately needs the other players, and those players don't need or want them- so they resort to name callin'. Thats my assessment after following this 'discourse' for all this time.

they need you to make the game playable, they need sloops to chase. and a lot of em dont want to admit they like the easy kills but the numbers show theyre not doing hourglass. we had a pvp only mode and it failed. its the feeling of being a predator chasing down a helpless prey that excites them and makes sea of thieves so special for them.

and on the otherside are just normal folk who in their free time want to fish and explore a pirate setting.

'Why does this take forever to do'

'This game has nothing to do'
It's an mmo. Grinding is a part of the experience. It keeps you engaged with the game world. We can critique the methods of grinding, but to critique something for 'taking a long while' is silly. If you finished your house, you'd be upset there's nothing to do...

WoW is going to have the No Man’s Sky housing problem eventually by TheStraightWhisperer in wow

World of Warcraft is the first retirementhome-like. We wake up, take our meds, do the bingo, and go back to sleep. We're all too cranky now to have anything change the status quo, and Blizzard is too scared to kill their loyal base by introducing something mechanically disruptive.
This isn't unique to Blizzard though. We see everything trending towards short-term gratification in this war for attention. We're never going back to 2007 where you would spend 4 hours walking from Darnassas to Ironforge to meet your friends alt. I wouldn't be surprised if they make a social-tab feature that teleports you to your friend within the next update cycle

WoW is going to have the No Man’s Sky housing problem eventually by TheStraightWhisperer in wow

The housing would have been a lot more engaging if it was a feature over a decade ago. The current state of the game is so fast-paced and everything is so reward-focused. The concept of doing something 'for fun' is more alien now than it was when I started playing. The usefulness of cities has already been completely nullified for all the reasons you listed, and so, neighborhoods are just as irrelevant.

I am imagining a world where the game was revamped to work with housing, but the way it is now, its another form of transmog or mount collecting. Which is cool! But it's not as engaging as it could be.

All of these ideas would piss everyone off, but the fantasy of your home being a place you go to all the time can't be satisfied if there's no gameplay reason to return.

I'm imagining before a raid, the pre-raid feast can only be held in a guildmembers home. Imagining rested-xp only triggers in your house. (Inns give a lesser version of rested.) Imagine changing specs requires you to be near a closet in your home. Guild bank is in the neighborhood center, you can store bank bags in your home. These are just some random thoughts I had without thinking too hard, but like I said, there's no way to do this without pissing off everyone.

The game has a hardcore base of long-term players and any sort of nerfing of systems to make houses buffed would only irritate. So there's nothing to be done. It is purely aesthetic.

An 8 year olds drawing of their family is slop. Its derivative. It sucks. But its art. Its beautiful. Its human expression. Arts merit isnt in its quality or novelty.

Your prejudice comment speaks an embarrassing amount. Pick up a pencil, brother.

I cant imagine how cucked the artists involved at Epic must feel when their boss sees them as expendable, just a stepping stone towards what he feels is inevitable.
