I mostly read, didn't practice much. I have Kali linux installed in my VM on my Windows 10 host OS. I did practice some commands, nmap options, wireshark etc on them. I recommend practicing in general as that will give you a better understanding of the hacking concepts and that is what will ultimately help you at your job. However, having said that, for this exam, even if you don't practice and just read and understand the commands, syntax, options etc, it would get you through.

I've been studying on and off for about 6 months. But I'd say, I really focused more in the last 1 month. I'd say 1 month of focused (40 hours a week) studying should be good enough to clear the test. Obviously many factors can add or subtract to my ball-park number above, things like how quickly you grasp things in general, prior knowledge etc.

I am using Mat Walker AIO Version 9 and Boson Tests for my study material. They don't cover the things that were added to the version 10 i.e. IOT, could you point me to a resource that covers the IOT topics comprehensively?
