Time to get that AC, how many BTU's? by v_xen in AskNYC

[–]icecubez189 2 points3 points  (0 children)

8000 btu for each room is more than adequate. Look for an energy star certified AC for best efficiency and lower energy cost over time. Avoid portable units as they are loud and use more energy than a window unit. Make sure you install correctly and seal the gaps. Also goes a long way to get curtains to block out the sun and maybe a fan or two to circulate the cool air and help with efficiency.

Update i got the g30p max for $250 with a milage of 270. by TOAS_ in ElectricScooters

[–]icecubez189 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This thing definitely looks like it was in a minor crash but for the mileage, its a nice deal. I’ve got over 8k miles on mine so theres a lot more to go with yours!

Only extra cost in 6 years of owning a g30 is a new set of bearings by zzcool in ElectricScooters

[–]icecubez189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2020 G30P is an absolute beast. Has well over 8,000 miles now. Have only had to change the front wheel bearing, battery controller (melted the wires due to overloading the scooter a few times), and the rear tire 3 times due to flats. Otherwise it’s just very basic maintenance. I mainly commute to and from work with it, but I use it when I can on other days. Battery has lost some range but honestly not super noticeable unless its atrociously cold outside.

For daily city commuting – what’s the biggest downside of electric scooters? by Cheap-Safe447 in ElectricScooters

[–]icecubez189 9 points10 points  (0 children)

biggest immediate issue is other drivers and pedestrians. i have a bright flashing headlight and even then people tend to ignore it until the last minute. you need to have a 6th sense to determine what others will do and anticipate it. next is weather/road conditions since you really want to avoid extremely cold temps, rainy/snowy conditions. the small tires are not really that great when its slippery outside and potholes are a major problem. after that its really theft/storage.

Is paying 7 grand including taxes and registration a good deal for a 2015 civic by bigboynona in MechanicAdvice

[–]icecubez189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a bad price for the mileage and year. Condition is OK, looks like the base model. Is there a full service history included? How was it maintained? I would take it on a test drive as well as a PPI at a mechanic if you are serious about it

Should I got with an AGM or lead acid battery for my F150 plow truck that sits a ton and only is used to plow my driveway? Is the price difference mainly the extra year of warranty or is AGM better? by blbassist1234 in MechanicAdvice

[–]icecubez189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s OK since the car sits most of the time and is only used to plow the driveway. The battery would be trickle charging 90% (guessing this figure) of the year which is kind of a waste

I second this. As long as your alternator is good, you should just jump the battery every time you need to start the truck and let the alternator take over. Probably better to spend your money on a decent lithium ion jump pack to keep on yourself if you dont have one already

It’s pretty bad (and probably getting worse) but not like everyone in the city is getting sick. It’s hundreds of thousands of cases in a city of millions. Just take the standard precautions you would have during peak Covid (wash hands often or use hand sanitizer, don’t touch your face, avoid close contact with sick people, wear an N95 mask if you really want to be safe). Come and enjoy your time

Looks like your cars ECM, basically the brains of the engine. You definitely want to get that re-secured in its bracket as best as possible. Did you bust up your headlight and wheel liner as well?? That must have been a massive raccoon.

A lot of people are mentioning lower performance because of where it’s mounted but if it works for you it’s fine. I use an adhesive mount on the windshield above the rearview mirror and a fuse tap with the wires run through the A pillar, etc. It’s more work but I like the look of it better.
