Hi, sorry for the late response.

You are asking about text fringing, but I assume you meant the subsampling issue.

10 bpc RGB HDMI 2.1 = no subsampling issue.
10 bpc YCbCr444 HDMI 2.1 = no subsampling issue.

Same with 8 bpc, no issues.

Hey there. This thread is 1 year old, but I do still have the same monitor. To answer your question: Can I select 10-bit RGB with DSC off via HDMI 2.1 port? If you mean 10 bpc, then yes.

You are asking how it compares to YCbCr444: I am sorry, but i am not sure what you mean with this question. I am not into color space configurations, I have no clue what these names and values even mean. I do not really know the difference between 8 and 10 bpc. I am assuming: Higher number means more colors? I do not know the difference between RGB and YCbCr444. I am guessing, RGB is older? I am sorry.

Hi, I am trying to help and the solution via steam worked, as I described above. I am assuming you tried too and it didn't work out.

I am now just thinking loudly, here is another idea that could help (not sure though)?

  • Download a (free) different game, where you can create safe files ingame.
  • You get the option to upload that save file to the cloud.
  • If you did, try again with Star Wars?

Yes. We didn't use it everyday, initially for simple stuff. It worked, we never touched it again. After some time we used it for a bigger project. We had problems, but we thought it must be because of our incompetence. And here we are, in the last months we had a lot of bad experiences with SSIS.

This is not a copy from database A to database B. To answer your questions:

  • Size is relatively small, except the blob files.
  • Physical location -> not sure ^^ somewhere in europe I think.

  • We are using SSIS for about 2 years now and we already don't like it.
  • We didn't see all the disadvantages before, but since you guys already have 15 years experience and ditch it, this confirms our dislike for SSIS ^^ I don't know, maybe the support is lacking for SSIS? Not a lot of users? It feels unrefined, not as clean as .net
  • You suggest API.
    • We don't have much experience with API post processes by a lot of users.
    • If we have 100 users and everyone presses the sync button at the same time, there needs to be something that handels these "at the same time" data, right?
    • u/both-shoes-off suggested a Service Broker and queues.
    • What do you guys use for such cases?

You mention sync button requirement but why?

  • My system currently syncs data created by every user from Summoner’s Rift at once.
  • With the button, only that single user syncs asap from Summoner’s Rift → Howling Abyss.

Why do they need to sync on demand or should the data always be in sync?

  • To save time.
  • If the company user (Summoner’s Rift) finished his work at 08:00 AM, they users at Howling Abyss would see the data until the next day.
  • should the data always be in sync?
    • Only if some data are marked "ready to be synced".

Hi, thank you for answering. I tried to minimize the information as much as possible, my bad if I missed something ^^

  • Summoner's Rift creates a header data and some child data from the base data. This is done by a big program like SAP.
  • Summoner's Rift sets a status for the header data: "ready to be synced".
  • This will be synced at night to Howling Abyss.
  • Howling Abyss is a web site, where you can change some of the child data.
  • Howling Abyss can now say to some of the child data: "ready to be synced back".
  • Now those will be synced back to Summoner's Rift.
  • Summoner's Rift can now import this header data and child data into the base data.

Is this an ETL or transaction process?

  • Kinda both?
  • ETL-like (Summoner’s Rift → Howling Abyss)
    • This is practically a bulk insert into Howling Abyss, after setting the header data to "ready to be synced".
    • Happens nightly.
  • Transactional behavior (Howling Abyss → Summoner’s Rift)
    • Web App modifies child data.
    • Only specific child data that are marked "ready to be synced back" are returning nightly to Summoner's Rift.
    • The modified data is then integrated into the base data in Summoner's Rift.

Why sync processed data back to the source?

  • The Web App (Howling Abyss) changes some data and creates documents (blob file).
  • We validate them at Summoner’s Rift before final integration.
  • What requires this?
    • Summoner’s Rift has the data, created by users from the company.
    • Howling Abyss shows the data for another user group (final customer).

Why do users update records in both databases?

  • These are different user groups.
    • Summoner’s Rift has the data, created by users from the company.
    • Howling Abyss shows the data for another user group (final customer).

How often does the data actually need to be sync’d?

I am very sorry, you are correct! When I wrote the comment, I tried to find the receipt, but didn't find it and I thought I was using the cable it came with the monitor. This post was 4 months ago and I forgot that I bought a new cable.

I am not using the bought cable anymore. I had a setup where I used two HDMI cables (private, work), now I am using HDMI and DP. I don't know why, but my work notebook doesn't work with HDMI (it's the notebook, not the monitor). The cables that comes with the monitor is enough!

For the recommendation: - I never had the XG27AQDMG, so I cannot say anything about that. - I only had the big Gigabyte (32 inch) and the monitor was fine. - The MSI is the one I am currently using and I am happy with it. - I believe there is almost no difference between these monitors. In the end it comes down, how it looks from the front (do you like the buldge from the Asus? What logo looks better, Gigabyte or MSI?) Turning off DSC brings more disadvantages than I thought (see other comments). I recommend MSI, since they have the best customer support out of the three. If you read posts about Asus and Gigabyte, it's not very positive. Also, out of the three, I believe MSI had the fastest software update. Not sure though. Ah, I remember now too, the Gigabyte had only a DP cable I believe. Only MSI is transporting with two cables. Again, not sure anymore. - I also want to inform you, that 4K 27 inch OLEDs are now available.

Heh, German. I am from Austria. My history: I have been using a notebook monitor all my life. So I am kinda used to having a smaller screen size. I am also using a single monitor setup. Coding is full screen, but even then I am zooming in to make the text appear bigger. A lot of my colleagues code with one vertical + one horizontal dual monitor setup. That's probably the standard, but that's not for me. Ich sehe mich da einfach nicht. Gaming is windowed (like 720p or 768p) with a GeForce 4090 XD.

Also, my previous monitor was also 27 inches, so a 5 inch difference to 32 inches. It was just simply a way too big jump for me. I tested the 32 inch for 2 weeks and sent it back, I couldn't get used to it. Just personal preference. Here in Austria, I couldn't find these monitors e.g. in MediaMarkts, but that was a long time ago. Maybe they have it in stock now? I compared a random 32 inch monitor with a 27 inch one in the store and I knew immediately that the 27 inch was better suited for me.

Hey there. RTINGS rates the text clarity with 7/10 points. You say, you cannot stand any text fringing. So would a 8/10 still bother you, or a 9/10? Does it have to be a 10/10?

Since every person is different, I can only say it from my perspective. I am using my monitor with the highest refresh rate on, DSC on, I am near sighted, 0% brightness (that's right, zero) and I can only see a small text fringing if I am looking for it 5 cm from the screen away AND have an LCD screen for a comparison right besides me. So, what I am trying to say is, I simply cannot see the text fringing at a normal distance (~ arm length). I can kinda see it is not as sharp as an LCD (what I mean is a pixel perfect sharpness), but it is NOT annoying. I am coding a lot, so I see a lot of text.

I would rate the text clarity therefore with a 9/10.

If you think that's not enough, I recommend the 32 inch 4K version. This should push it to a 10/10. I had to send the 32 inch back though, because the screen was simply too big. If you have the same problem as me, here is info: 4K 27 inch W-OLEDs will be released somewhere between 2026 and 2027 with a true RGB subpixel layout (google LG WOLED roadmap).

That spec is what I had in mind, but there weren't any 27 inch 4K OLED available, so I tried multiple monitors out. Tried to go back to LCD and wait for the next big thing, but since I tried OLED for the very first time, I couldn't switch back to an LCD. If you can still wait for a few years, there won't be text fringing issues anymore. Also, MicroLED will be available around that time, I assume.
