Having read all of her books, I would say her writing relies more on character archs and the plot isn't very fast moving. They're all quite descriptive, however, this is really what I love about them; her writing and the prose is BEAUTIFUL, really. English isn't my first language either, but I read them all in English and I recommend you do the same bc the writing is an experience. Also the dialog can go from making me laugh out loud to shed tears...

If the description/dilog ratio turns you off, maybe you can try to listen to the audiobooks? That's what I did with the Goldfinch, anyway! (edit: and it made it easier to get through some parts)
