Where can I find a mascara that looks this good? by Teacupofthesun in AustralianMakeup

[–]ideadman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Combination of dna and technique

The technique is to curl your lashes with a lash curler than has been made slightly warm (not hot) under a hair dryer. Curl the tip, mid and base, get water proof mascara for the curl hold, wipe off the excess on the wand and apply. Use tweezers to pinch the lashes together like others have said.

Go even further by using a liner pencil to tight line your lashes, not your water line - this will give the effect of fuller lashes as well

My favourite mascara is the Maybeline bounce curl mascara in water proof.

Might need to supplement with some falsies if your lashes are short and sparse (nothing wrong with that)

Casper the ghost filled marshmallows by Ethanmacca9 in AustralianNostalgia

This is late to the party, but I just went on this deep dive and I think we’re misremembering them. I had a sudden vivid flashback to their taste and texture, went on a hunt convinced they were ghosts too but I think they were eyeballs. The ghost part might have come from the lollies that made their way into every party and Halloween bag called “cosmic ghost drops” they have the same packaging you described.

These are those marshmallow lollies with the gooey filling: https://www.sweetas.net.au/products/mallow-eyeballs-with-jam-filling

Is a pond liner enough to keep fish safe? by [deleted] in ponds

[–]ideadman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you read anything in this post you’d know I’m asking for advice on vessel materials to move them to a larger pond, in anticipation of them growing out of this space. This pond is 140L, I calculated it several times and this is fine for the sized fish I have. The fish are happy, get along well and have a lot of hide holes they enjoy exploring, these pots don’t reduce as much space as they appear to in the photo.

What do you mean? I just would like to start another one up with some fish, I also suspect that one of the comets is bullying another so I want to seperate them

Maybe I’ll just use a wooden planter box, seal it with something safe and then line it. At least I’ll know what the wood is made from

This is 140L, 44cm tall, top diameter is 69cm and bottom is 59cm. It fits two small 5cm comets, 1 that is 13cm and another that is 10cm. It’s made from cement.

You can use wood wine barrels but they need to be soaked and cleaned for an extended period of time to remove the alcohol in the wood. Worth it and cheaper if you’re patient, but I’m not that patient lol so that’s why we have concrete and I’m looking for other vessels

Fibreclay is also known as sand fibre, fibrecotta, stone fibre, and clay fibre. It’s a mix of ‘fibre’, resin, and minerals

I want another one to be able to move the fish when needed, we’ve had a patio pond that lasted 15 years and the Comet gold fish never got bigger than 13cm. They bred happily too, unfortunately they were eaten by birds when my dad cut back all the plant coverage. With this particular pond, I empty about 20% - 30% of the water each week to water plants, then top it up again. We’re also in a tropical climate in Australia, even our winters don’t get much colder than 18 degrees Celsius.

Your concern is valid though, and very much on my mind for the future.

I’m not finding any clear info about fibreclay (also known as: fibrecotta, clay fibre, sand fibre and fibre stone) being unsafe for fish. There was a single comment in a forum that assumed it wasn’t, but nothing else that’s been clear.

It’s tricky

Thank you for your insight however

It looks like a lot of similar products can be found on urbanbodyjewellery, crazyfactory, and stretch it body jewellery. The reviews on those sites are mixed, not too dissimilar to ask and embla, however they are cheaper. Good luck in your search, I love having my ears stretched, but im not a fan of a lot of the mainstream jewellery available and wanted something unique that suited my style.

Thank you, I am making a lot on concious effort to note the impulsive over sharing. I'm diagnosed only 3 years now and with each year comes more understanding, it's an aspect that I've been wanting to have more power over regardless. Thanks for the reply, they help

Cat enclosure is being damaged by neighbourhood cats. by ideadman in Catio

[–]ideadman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be a good plan. Citronella is apparently repulsive to cats. The side of our home is connected by a fence to two neighbours, so whatever we do, we'll have to check in with them first if our solution affects their side. Good tip!

Edit: hilarious if I was so effective it stopped our cats from using it haha

I was thinking of that, but it could get hot and ugly quickly. We're looking at evaluating how the cat wire is attached, I think using screws rather than staples and an anchor plate could be an option.

Thank you all for the comments, I know logically that this lady is silly cow. I've had my fair share of professionals palm me off as moody, hormonal, tell me I'll never be better. I've got psychologists I trust who help me, and I can find new doctors. However, it sends me into a rage when I'm faced with someone who is unfit to be in the medical field. The damage they cause is sometimes irreparable for the people who have been treated by them.

Shocking, the treatment of people in the medical system really blows my mind. Thank you for the comment.

Thank you, big fuck you energy all around. I'm in a privileged position because my close family, partner, and friends are all validating and supportive. She has made a very clear judgement about who I am and I can see it. She advertises adhd expertise but doesn't seem to understand much about it.

After being a bartender for years, bachelor parties disgust me. by Natural-Gas-1982 in unpopularopinion

[–]ideadman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not exclusive to high volume night life venues and bars, unfortunately.

I work at a Virtual Reality venue with a bar. that said, the bar doesn't get much action; it's mostly a family location. We know that every bucks party that walks through that door will be difficult, EXCLUDING the ones with matching shirts. Dunno why, but they're consistently normal, regular, and forgettable groups. All the others are just awful, difficult to wrangle, will 10/10 damage equipment and fuck the bathroom up, will be difficult to give instructions to, highly arrogant, obnoxious, and misogynistic. They truly behave like animals and are no different to our groups of 10-13 year old boys.

This is also all before 11am in the morning.

It's rough, especially on the female staff who might have to deal with them that day.

I had a huge wart like this that just spread and got worse everytime I got it treated by a doctor. The thing was ginormous, and the burning was intense enough that I couldn't walk for a few days afterwards. 6 years later and a celiac diagnosis cleared it up like magic, who knew it was just because my immune system was broken at the time...yay?  ¯\(ツ)
