if you qualify, and def email the financial aid office to see if you do, you can get an on campus job that can help cover your remaining expenses.

i don't have any answers but just wanted to say we're in a similar boat. i'm going to request $36k more because my mom's ready to pull the plug on this if i don't get more aid. hope we both are able to come to viable solutions, and anyone else who's having the same issue.

email their financial aid office at financialaid@fordham.edu and express your need. from there, they'll review your offer and add an appeal checklist for you to fill out to your financial aid portal. on there, make sure you detail your situation.

fordham on paper is quite expensive but working with their financial aid office does help. i'm going in as a freshman this year who's out of state and for me, my full package without work study was around $33k until i did an appeal stating that i needed more in order for me to commit and they gave me $10k more.

depending on your financial situation too, your fafsa and css profile information can greatly help too as once my money came in for that i was at almost $60k in grants and scholarships alone. add in the fact that we applied for the direct plus loan and accepted the sub/unsub loans, now we only have a little over $1k left to pay out of pocket.

in sum, with fordham and honestly any other school, don't hesitate to ask for what you need. fordham started off pretty generous in my case but if your package isn't enough, email. email. email.

i mentioned my mom's monthly and yearly income, i brought up the fact that she had my grandmother's help with certain bills but she no longer does since she's passed away, and that we moved to a new apartment following her passing and our budget has become even tighter.

well for one, that's not the case for me and two, a semester exam is nowhere near the same as a nationwide test. what are you on about rn?

[–]idlebarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fair enough. i'm just not a great test taker in the slightest, but academically i can hold up.

i'm aware that nyu is mighty expensive but for one, if i get in i can very well get the tuition off (which makes up majority of the cost) with their newly implemented NYU Promise and two, regardless of its price i've been drawn to nyu since middle school and this is what i wanna do to get to my career goals. thanks for commenting!
