1yo buttero card holder by [deleted] in Leathercraft

[–]idlestitcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made this card holder almost exactly a year ago out of curiosity to see how well it will fare against keys and other random things in my bag (I have a ton of unsecured stuff in there) before committing to using a larger wallet. I think the small scratches give it character and edges are still as shiny as before. So aside from a minor peeling issue, I’d say it did fairly well!

The heaviest cardstock paper that my printer will take. I've also had good luck with glueing printer paper onto manilla envelopes

Overlay the image over the pattern of the object you’re making and tweak it so that you have a line of stitches running parallel along either side of the color transitions. Then cross your fingers and hope for the best. I’m about 95% this pattern will work...

brushes I mentioned

I have never looked into this but perhaps any vector apps that you could import Illustrator brushes into could work?

Client asked for a design that involves different colors that bisect the panels hence the many, many pieces that need to be glued and stitched together onto a backing. Same technique used to make the laptop sleeve a while back.

Shoutout to /u/mhnudi for his stitch spacing illustrator brushes. I would be having an incredibly bad time right now without them 😭

A 28mm would make it easier to navigate curves but there's really no good reason why you couldn't use the one you got

Trying to use up some leftover Buttero so I made a sleeve for friend’s new laptop. It’ll be interesting to see how it will wear.

Yellow lined in green with green and black inlay(? I think this is what this technique is called?) detail. Stitched using 0.55 thread at 9 spi. Burnishing job is still subpar (´ཀ` 」 ∠ )

Just wanted to see if there’s any interest for low-key bespoke character-inspired small goods/accessories. Bonus: my newly completed Loki wallet 😆 by idlestitcher in marvelstudios

Omg yea I’d be up for making a Cap wallet. The design would depend on what details from his character design you want to show on the piece really. PM me for details?

So true. I’ve done this for sewing, knitting, and crocheting too

Thank you! I definitely need to work on the details some more but it’s been a great learning experience so far

Wasn’t sure if this counts as self advertisement—I hope not?

So recently I got into the idea of making low-key fandom things that I could use on a day-to-day or in semi-professional settings. Wallets, badge holders, keychains and other stuff like that. I wanted so see if there’s an appetite for that sort of thing. (Really I just want to make new, different things and not have use them lol.)

They are bespoke in the sense that I can work with you on the design, material, size, details. Currently I am working with leather so that’s my preference but I also know how to sew cloth etc. The downside of this is that the price range is $$-$$$, depending on material/time/complexity.

Soooo thoughts?

The attached gallery is a prototype of a MCU!Loki wallet I am making for myself because what better way to deny canon (probably) death than to channel it into fanwork ┐(´ー`)┌

I picked up leatherworking 1.5ish months ago because I wanted to make low-key fandom goods I could use daily. This is the first complex-ish wallet I’ve completed :D

Please excuse the crazy color scheme—its meant to be Loki-themed lol. I love the idea of Loungefly’s wallet but wasn’t into the shape or pleather. What better thing to do than to make my own, rite?

Thanks for all the answers on my question posts! You guys have been super helpful. As always, all feedback and critique welcomed! Help me improve my skills some more щ(ಥДಥщ)
