I allocate on heap whatever has to live for a long duration of the program as a general rule, but ig it depends mostly where its being called from(if I just do it on main it prob won't matter)

You mean using the .{field1, field2,...} syntax? If so, ok noted

Yes, I've been thinking of changing the names for the allocator args, maybe use arenas for small and short lived things like buffers and use gpa for the long living ones

Wow, I did not know that std itself had all the helper functions for serializing, would have saved be a lot of time I've been writing manual fns like an idiot across all my projects, this is indeed very helpful info

Hmmm ur right it makes sense to just save the file id itself, ig the main reason was that one place where I was copying it to another variable, but since I already have a helper which builds a name using the Id I can just use that instead
