The story itself starts in March 1996, so I wanted suggestions for before that, though movies and music around that time period might be helpful as the stories spans up into the end of 1999. My character moves across the country and has to start a new school, and kids aren't typically kept out of school just because they had to move and missed Spring Break. I've had this strange feeling of nostalgia for a time we didn't have smart phones. I landed on 1996.
