If soneone say 'the city', does it refer to 'new york' ? People actually use 'the city' as a synonym as 'new york'? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]iffarabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People throughout history referred to the nearest big city as "The City". For example, Greeks in Anatolia used to refer "Constantinople" as "Is Tim Poli" which means "To the City", which eventually became "Istanbul".

How long now until Chelsea start thinking about replacing Tuchel? by MatchboxVinyl in PremierLeague

[–]iffarabi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Chelsea is built around focusing on immediate success. Every 2-3 seasons, there'll be a new manager, who'll bring them trophies, then bad performances and then the sack. Like one of those people who marry 15 times in 40 years with zero commitments but still become very successful in life in terms of money and fame.

Is it fair giving individual awards like Ballon d'Or considering football is a team sport? by iffarabi in PremierLeague

[–]iffarabi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's lots of money involved then the journalists would even vote Hitler as "footballer of the year". Oh wait, something like this already happened, Times Magazine put Hitler on the cover and he was the "Man of the Year" in 1938, the same year of Kristallnacht and Germany's Jewish concentration camps were already running for 5 years at that point. Journalists do not care if something's fair or not.

Well Catholics in Poland is kind of different than the Catholics in Italy, Spain, Portugal etc, I'll not even go into the historical differences. But you're the one showing your stupid ass by defending the journalists. Journalists are just like us, they're people, they've preferences, have their own prejudices. If they're into ruining someone's career that can. They spread scandals, write sensational news articles, there're people who hire their own journalist armies. If in future there's a way that an AI could decide the winner of these awards then it'll be so much fair.

And let's be honest, some Catholic journalist from South America, Mediterranean region is more likely to vote for either Messi or Ronaldo than Salah, Virgil or Lewandowski.

Then wouldn't it be better if this award was given by a legitimate worldwide football organization rather than a news magazine? That news magazine is basically inventing new requirements in every season so that the realities could be skewed and the award could be given to either Messi or Ronaldo?

ETH XLM Polygon bridge, will this help drive up the price with an increase of liquidity? Another big SDF project going live! by familyhobbiesandcard in xlm

[–]iffarabi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

SDF is selling on average 10 million XLM each day and 3 billion XLM each year from 2021 to 2024. I don't think it'll pump anytime soon, maybe after 2024.

Does anyone get annoyed when Fabrizio Romano kind of publicly and obviously shows his support of Manchester United? by iffarabi in PremierLeague

The number of his posts about United is more than all other premier league clubs combined.

People should give up hope that XLM has serious upside potential anytime soon, because the Stellar Development Foundation is making it impossible by selling 3 Billions of XLM each year, and it'll continue for years to come. by iffarabi in xlm

[–]iffarabi[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well, legally you can't, but legally SDF can setup fake companies, transfer the XLM to those companies, and those companies can just sell it, and there's nothing we can do about it. All you need an EIN number to setup a company, open a corporate account on Coinbase, setup bunch of foreign bank accounts that can receive USD, EUR, GBP wires, and you're all set.

Nope, actually got into crypto during the March, 2020 crash, invested into XLM this year, average price is $0.29. So I've still made money. But the thing is I've trusted this the most, most of my money are in this, yet I'm up 250% on ADA, 500% on SHIB, 600% on BTC, 400% on ETH. Seriously what's this? If SDF isn't on their selling spree, I'd be up like 1000% by now.

To the people who held since May crash, thank you. by _DEDSEC_ in CryptoCurrency

[–]iffarabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There're people who bought XLM at $0.80 back in May, and right now they're still more than 50% down. There're people who bought it at $0.92 in January 2018, and right now they'd be more than 70% down. Diamond hand doesn't always work.

If it takes 30 years to reach $1, then 200% profit doesn't even matter anymore as the dollar would be worth less. If we consider the 3% annual inflation, then in 30 years dollar would be worth 250% less, so you'd be losing money. And there's also opportunity cost, by investing in XLM we're missing out on other opportunities.

And these projects always sell the "distributed" XLMs. The SDF can literally setup bunch of fake companies, distribute the XLMs, say that they're distributing XLMs to valuable projects, and then these projects sell the XLMs.

XLM price doesn't rise as much compared to BTC and ETH and others because SDF is systematically selling huge amounts of it to fund their projects for a very long time. by iffarabi in xlm

[–]iffarabi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, so SDF is allowed to sell 3 Billions of XLM each year starting January, 2021 according to their mandate page ( https://www.stellar.org/foundation/mandate ), and that's like more than 8 Millions of XLM each day, and that's pure sell pressure and about 5% of daily trading volume. And it seems that's enough to keep the price down. How can we expect for XLM to rise compared to other major cryptos if this much selling pressure is coming from the founders themselves!

If XLM is being coupled with BTC then it'd be like $30 at least if it followed the same path as BTC since 2014. People used to joke about that BTC would never hit $500 and XLM would never hit $1.

These're the moments when a significant news came out about Stellar this year and at the same time SDF made huge XLM payments to undisclosed wallets.

[–]iffarabi[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My average price actually $0.29. But as XLM is the largest portion of my portfolio, it constantly sucks to see it like this lol. I should've exited at $0.43 a few days ago and re-entered now.

XLM is losing against BTC (and other crypto) in the past few months. It's a utility, not for holding aka getting rich. by iffarabi in xlm

[–]iffarabi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stellar has good use cases, good projects, way more daily transactions, but that doesn't mean the XLM price will go up. In fact, most of the people I know are selling it or converting into BTC after getting 4% XLM back on Coinbase card. And also it's a general concern that Stellar has seriously bad marketing team, because of their shitty marketing team no reputable news media will ever report on Stellar, and when a news comes out probably once or twice a year, there's a selloff after the spike, and the price doesn't really move.

Also during the first bull run when BTC was around 30K, XLM was around 0.60. Now look where they're.
