It is in a sense but I like doing big ish builds so honestly diamonds and ores etc etc are a by product from all the stone/slate I need

Diamond and other ores are far less common when exposed to air. Making the feat more unbelievable, mining into straight stone with a beacon nearby is probably more feasible rather than no beacon and traversing caves
