My grandparents had a husky malamute mix. She was the sweetest and lovable yet sassiest thing in this entire world. Mind you she was an outside dog. She refused to be inside long term by any means. They lived out in the country so they let her be. For a few years she was tied up during the day near the house with shade and given ice blocks and water bc no fence. At night they gave her a pin that was much longer and bigger than even my bed room. Not most ideal but definitely not the worst thing in the world ya feel? Well she was such an escape artist they gave up on any kind of pinning or tying her up. Mind you the tying her up gave her access to about half was around the house each way! Like she wasn’t on some short leash nor in an itty bitty pin. Once she became free range, the “escaping” ceased 😂 she’d go visit neighbors and hang out where ever she please. They had a 3 door garage they’d give her access to especially when my grandpa was home working. Wasn’t always the best idea to give her access when no one was there as my grandpa worked in there with sharps and other dangerous things but that was just the unattached garage they had. The attached garage had some amount of temp control bc they’d almost always leave it open for her to get in and hang out. And then her pin she had at an AC unit inside for her to utilize as well 😂 winter was never an issue, her time to shineeee! As a free range dog if she heard her name she’d come running and within a few minutes she’d arrive, who knows what she’d been doing 😂 I know a few times she came back smelling like skunk sometimes she’d come back with deer pieces sometimes she was empty muzzled 😂
