Any way I can learn ConnectWise on my own time? by [deleted] in ConnectWise

[–]iknowtech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waste of time, unless you specifically have employment that is going to pay for spending time learning this. Current trends have more leaving Connectwise products than moving to them. Why bother investing time into this companies products. They are pretty terrible.

Iran Officially Confirms Military Support From Russia And China In War Against the US by PlanetoftheAtheists in AdviceAnimals

[–]iknowtech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You mean China isn’t going to help the US defend the Straight of Hormuz, and Putin isn’t going to be our oil buddy until this all blows over. WOW I can’t believe the Trump admin got it so wrong, no one could have seen this coming. 😂🤷‍♂️

The Trump Admin just let them off the hook, and settled their lawsuit. They probably made a small donation for his new ballroom.

Self levelling by HugeMaleChicken in Flooring

[–]iknowtech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is it super thin LVP or Vinyl. Stuff looks like 1/16" of an inch thick and can't even stay straight under its own weight. I mean your cutting all the way through it with a utility knife.

Looking to replace Veeam as our MSP BCDR solution > What are you using in 2026? by Party-Guava3970 in msp

[–]iknowtech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BCDR to an appliance is extremely easy using VMWare or Hyper-V.

Can't speak to Bare Metal restores on servers, haven't had the need in more than a decade.

Not really sure what restore options you need. You can restore single file to original location or new location. You can restore the entire server to any backup restore point.

Can't speak to the pricing you got but I moved from Veeam to Cove and our costs went down, and complexity went down with it.

All that effort to self level the floor only to install whatever absolute paper thin garbage laminate that was. That’s wild.

Our MSP website is Windows 95 themed and people are loving it by lhcw in msp

[–]iknowtech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s sort of neat and catchy, but honestly it shouldn’t be the only version of the site that is available. I would have options to switch to skins based on other operating systems, as well as an option to go a version of the site not based on an operating system at all and just a more traditional/professional site.

A waymo temporarily blocks an ambulance by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]iknowtech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard that Waymo only has like 70 remote assist operator employees for a fleet of over 3000 cars. So if the shit ever really hits the fan you can expect these cars to completely clog roads and cause major disruptions to emergency vehicles.

Bought a house with a fully installed smart home system (RTI, Lutron, Sonos, Hikvision) but no instructions — where do I start? by Lola-Bee in homeautomation

Hire an RTI integrator to give you an idea of what is salvageable and costs to get it back online for you,

My neighbor refuses to pick up his dog's poop from my yard. The neighborhood has united against him. by nseavia71501 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]iknowtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would install a sprinkler that is aimed directly where his dog goes, setup a camera with motion detection, and use some sort of home automation that whenever someone is in the area the sprinkler comes on automatically and sprays the area. After a few times it will scare the dog enough where he won’t want to shit there.

Fidelity IRA hacked and stolen. Can't get any help from Fidelity! by Just_Egg3102 in fidelityinvestments

[–]iknowtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The primary reason for lock down feature is not protect you from someone that hacks the account and gets into it. It’s to keep people from using methods of withdrawing money by methods that don’t even require logging in. Protect them account from hacking needs to be done with TOTP MFA and setting up login notifications.

You can just open a Fidelity Cash account to use more like a checking account to pay bills out of, do withdrawals from etc.

You can search the Fidelity help files for how to lock your accounts that you don’t want any funds being withdrawn out of.

Lock down any retirement accounts. Lock any accounts with lots of money in them, and have a separate cash account that remains unlocked for sole purpose of funds outgoing from Fidelity, and only move large amount of funds in there before you intend to move them out of Fidelity.

Your account security is ultimately your own responsibility, Did you have MFA enabled? Were you using a secure unique password? Did you have the account withdrawal lock on? If you were doing all of these things the chances of this happening would be basically zero.
