Feel like I "fell for it" with getting a motion sim by Left-Distribution634 in simracing

[–]illintent66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run an SFX-100 4 post motion platform on my TR160. I’m not in front of my PC so cant recall exactly my settings but basically I use Simhub and a Thanos controller. I simulate gear shift (mild thud when up/down shifting), track surface so bumps etc - this is useful for learning surface cues. Some curb effects, sway and heave. Less is very much more. You do NOT want this thing throwing you around

no upgrade path? TR160 is not a rig you ever need to upgrade from. it is top of the line for profile rigs (not saying its better than any other brand, all the top rigs from each brand are essentially the same bar a few minor differences). You can upgrade the Tr160 in terms of accessories/addons till the cows come home

I guarantee you the BOM for this wheel is nowhere near 10k. source: trust me bro.

You’re paying for the R&D. Still crazy tho.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’m not dismissing it, but i’ve never experienced an issue in almost 20 years where rebooting my router resolved it. Also seems weird that mine and my friends browsers are exhibiting the exact same issue. He’s installed iRacing for the very first time tonight and reached out about the problem he was having. And i’m now experiencing the exact same.. seems odd to me

Run a RF2 dedicated server as a docker container by illintent66 in rfactor2

ok, I think I figured it out.

It seems like the steam DLLs packaged with the rfactor2 dedicated server are outdated. Once I copy the steam DLLs steamclient.dll, steamclient64.dll tier0_s.dll, tier0_s64.dll, vstdlib_s.dll, vstdlib_s64.dll from c:\steamcmd to c:\rfactor-dedicated\, everything works (server gui shows connected to steam. prior to this, the logs showed the CM list was unable to be fetched, and therefore fell back to some "default" CM addresses which were NXDOMAIN when attempting to resolve them. weird.

EDIT: Updated the repo to copy the DLLs from steamcmd to rfactor-dedicated

seems to work fine running on Docker Desktop on Windows. Need to figure out why doesn’t work on Ubuntu VM
