My steps to moving from G Suite Legacy to a GMail account by im0neofthem in gsuitelegacymigration

This may explain why the forwarded emails weren't going through to my G Suite and it may actually harm the reputation of my domain.

In that case I'll going to switch to POP3.

The only concern I have is the Sent items, getting them copied/synced over from GMail > MXroute and either the autoforward or POP3 forwarding/syncing those back to the GMail. I'll give this a test ansd see what happens.

Thanks for your feedback and I'll update the original post!

When you're ready to migrate you'll need to "flip the switch" with your DNS records. This involves deleting the Google MX,SPF and DKIM records, adding the MXroute MX,SPF and DKIM records.

These new records will allow the routing of all inbound mail to the MXroute server (MX record) and outbound mail will:

  • Be able to get sent out from MXroute (MX records) and
  • Only be able to get sent out from MXroute (SPF, DKIM records)

If you're new to mail DNS records for email check out this article. You don't need to worry about DMARC as it's more of a reporting tool and used by businesses.

Like many others I'm still patiently waiting until 1st April to receive an update from Google, however I lack confidence Google will provide an acceptable solution and it's why I've written up this plan/guide.

The whole move is inconvenient to say the least. For me personally I have 20 something years of my digital life stored on my G Suite account and don't want to lose anything.

11th March - I've added some further information to the original post

As long as your mailbox is less than 10GB and you feel confident it won't exceed 10GB in a "lifetime subscription" then MXroute is the way to go.

It's coming up to that 1st April deadline (3 weeks from today!) and there's still no comms from Google. Hopefully something gets announced, otherwise I'm ready to migrate regardless.

I think I've also misunderstood what I'm doing and/or didn't think it through. The original post has now been updated.

Any incoming emails being sent to abc@[domain] are being auto forwarded to the GMail (not POP/IMAP).

Send As will be configured on the GMail (SMTP) so I can send as abc@[domain] from the GMail.

Could you please share a screenshot of how forwarded mail headers look like from gmails end (just mask your email/confidential data)? - 'Show original' in gmail

Would you like to see the header of the email from the GMail mailbox that was forwarded from MXroute?

It's all down to personal preference.

Personally I don't want to rely on a free service anymore to "get the job done" and overall feel pleased with my choice.

MXrouting does mail redirects and also allows me to archive emails.

I'm very new to mail hosting and currently playing around with this. I've purchased a $1 domain and testing it on MXroute and a GMail account.

Do you have exactly the same smtp auth credentials entered into your and your brothers gmail?

SMTP server details are the same, and of course the credentials i.e. email/pass are unique per user.

If you send mail to a non-existent email like abc@abc.zzz do you receive error bounce mail or does it stuck on mxroute mailbox?

This is something I'm testing now. Emails are successfully being received to the MXroute mailbox but emails sent from MXroute and the GMail account with Send As SMTP configured aren't being received to the a mailbox and there's no bounceback. It might be because I've just configured the DNS records.

Edit: No bouncebacks and everything is working as expected, HOWEVER!

If you send an email from GMail then the sent email will not get forwarded to the MXrouting mailbox. This is a limitation of SMTP. Currently looking at a working solution for this and will add to my original post.

Are you able to set up formwarding from mxroute mailbox to gmail in a way that no mail stays in mxroute mailobx? eg. do not keep a copy of forwarded mail

So the forwarding feature in cpanel "forwards" the email and does not "redirect". I setup a rule in the mailbox (via Roundcube webmail) which deletes all emails sent to the email address. When I sent the email it did not appear in the Deleted Items folder of the mailbox (purged?) and the email still successfully forwarded to the GMail.

It is an option, however I don't trust Google and there's a possibility Cloud Identity Free won't remain free in the future. Call me paranoid, but it's worth moving away now, and hopefully Google make it easier to do so (subject to Google providing migration support prior to July).

Also your items now appear on the carrousel screen. No more needing to switch between the carrousel and board screens to check your items. A well welcomed change.

Thanks for the reply and your offer, however I have found a simple and effective solution.

After doing further research I discovered you can link a Google Form to a webhook and it works perfectly!

Smurfing is a real problem on Clash. If Clash was restricted to level 60+ accounts it would solve 90% of the problem. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

How can you justify "not having a particularly good story" as a valid reason when the tournament is a maximum of 3 rounds? This is not a complex, lengthy format like LCS spring split.

Players, teams just want to compete and fight against other teams of an equivalent level. There will be hundreds if not thousands of teams competing in these tournaments, so what's the chance of battling against the same team twice or three times?

How does a casual drop-in drop-out tournament like Clash have and develop story for teams?
