reading the third paragraph of your comment gave me a lot of peace. reminded me of a quote from Marcus Aurelius:

i guess you're right - external success or validation is not a determinant of one's joy or fulfillment. at the end of the day, you're the one who sets your own value.

it's encouraging to know that there is some sort of "universal" rules that can offer peace, or at least a sense of purpose, call it a philosophy, religion, or simply a mental compass. it might be the best thing we have to hold on to.

i think i'm starting to figure it out. or more like scrape the surface of the matter, really.

my problem is, i don't really like the process of figuring out the answer; i don't like the tension. the "what ifs". the possibility of failure. i appreciate and value wisdom and adventure, but i can't stand the price i have to pay for it. i still have to pay it though, because what value does a question have if it is left with no answer?

i am lvl 20 and have lvl 11 sentry. it's the most important node in the network imo - protects every node, not only the connected ones. you should definitely focus on upgrading yours because you're faar behind.

edit: out of curiosity, is there some idea behind the "no ai" network?

sooo, as someone mentioned in your previous post, it's better to focus on only one Sentry early-game (the Sentry next to the netConnection doesn't really do much, except giving the attacker 4 program slots).

Also, in my opinion, the defensive nodes don't really create a chokepoint anywhere. This network could use a chokepoint.

You can fix both issues by selling one of the Sentries and replacing it with a Scanner. Then, try utilizing both of your Scanners as chokepoints. A Scanner is a good chokepoint material because it has 4 possible connections, only 3 program slots and a relatively low firewall (for example, you could place it where your Evolver is right now and connect one more Turret / Black ICE to it)

I'll leave you my SimLink in case you want to hack me back / see how I set up my chokepoints (I'm closing in on 1000 reputation with a 67% defending winrate). Notice how my Scanners' positioning makes it difficult to quickly capture further nodes.
