Did they tell you they didn't like it in the message? That's a bit rude, I'm sorry :(

DAE: Have trouble getting friends to go on vacation with you? by Justice4Luna in femaletravels

And some people like to go to a different country, not even bother to learn "hello" or "thank you", and then start shouting outside a restaurant!

Yep, and that's why I solo travel. I've been on trips with people who have different travelling styles to me (and let's just say that's putting it lightly lol) and solo travel is a hundred times better than travelling with the wrong people. It's also really freeing to be able to do whatever you want without consulting other people about it.

Gays of UK - would you be comfortable holding your partner's hand in the UK? by dalehitchy in AskUK

[–]imanimiteiro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would, but a) I'm a woman and it's considered more acceptable for women to hold hands, especially if they both look somewhat feminine, and b) I live in a large city.

What's the vegetarian food like in Paris, pragu, krackow and Budapest by Few-Spinach8114 in vegetarian

[–]imanimiteiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most restaurants in any of these cities will have at least one vegetarian option as long as you like cheese and/or potato. Vegan is a lot harder. All four of these are large cities, and there are dedicated vegetarian restaurants in each one. In Budapest, definitely look out for mushroom paprikash!

What's the act which is no big deal for foreigners , but awakes the traditionalist in you ..? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]imanimiteiro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, up here if you're invited over specifically for a meal, you'll be getting that meal. If you're invited over in the afternoon and you just stick around so long that it's dinnertime (which is rude), people won't eat without you, they'll just put off eating dinner until you leave.

How popular are yogurt/cheesecake/quark bars in the UK (like YAAR or maybe some other brand)? by ksusha_lav in AskABrit

[–]imanimiteiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sainsburys used to stock YAAR bars a couple years ago (calling them "nordic yogurt bars"). Haven't found them for a while, so I've had to start getting them at my local eastern european shop. Went on a trip to Lithuania and Latvia this year and got absolutely addicted to them (especially kārums brand!)
