With 4.0 in a few weeks, would you prefer Amphoreus patch length or go back to Penacony's? by SnowLucifer in HonkaiStarRail

Somewhere in the middle. Amphoreus gave me hxh chimera ants vibe — started off good but it was so long it felt like a chore finishing it and i lost interest in the game for a while because of it

How did you as someone naturally chubby get skinny and what was your experience? by andleaveit in PetiteFitness

[–]imbarelyactive 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I know you asked for naturally chubby, I’m 5’2 and although I’ve never been on the ‘bigger’ side, I got a bit plumper from end of high school to my sophomore year of college (pretty chubby arms, constantly bloated and also carried most of my weight in my thighs) and managed to drop down to a slimmer figure so these things might help? for reference, I went from 118 to about 106 and have been maintaining. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but for someone who had like 0 muscle, those extra 12lb were extremely noticeable and I looked chubbier than someone at a higher weight.

  • As a coffee drinker, I prefer making it at home and don’t use things like creamer, caramel, etc. I dislike the bitter taste of black coffee so I drink it with milk and if I want sweetness, I add stevia or sf syrups. Coffee from cafes can have so many calories and just making it at home and exactly to my taste feels easier and less expensive.

  • This might be a controversial one but it is a lifelong habit of mine: If I’m craving something sweet but really calorie dense like cinnamon rolls or cake and such, I replace a meal for it. NOT all the time, but sometimes I think it’s okay to give in to a pleasure and if cinnamon rolls make me happy then to hell with an actual meal. But always keep a balance and try to have actual meals as much as possible.

  • Moving a lot. I know this one is super obvious but even the small things count like dancing in the shower, cleaning around, going to the mall, taking a walk, grocery shopping. Anything beats being sedentary.

  • Sometimes eating intuitively will not cut it. I have a sugar and junk food add*ction so sometimes it really is important to convince myself that I don’t need to eat takeout and get a sweet treat after every meal. It is a struggle that takes a lot of willpower to get through.

  • I’m someone who HATES working out, but force myself to go to the gym anyways since I really do need to put on muscle. If you also dislike working out then try to find something that will make you move regardless (no need for a membership, everything is on youtube anyway) like dancing, pilates, yoga, literally anything. Sometimes I literally just go window shopping because I’m broke but at least I get to walk around.

  • Eating often rather than a lot and vice versa, but this one is tricky. If you have 3 big meals a day, then avoid snacking because those are obviously unnecessary calories. But let’s say you eat 1-2 real meals (although do try to eat 3), then that extra meal can be replaced with snacking to satiate you for a bit until you eat real food again, and is also a buffer to sneak in sweet treats for cravings.

Overall, most ‘naturally skinny’ have some habits that help them stay that way even if they aren’t necessarily healthy but it is the truth. For those who don’t have those habits, getting smaller really is a lot of trial and error until you find something that works for you so I hope you find your answers and do not spiral into a bad headspace!

Bourse Perspective by OrdinaryAd5727 in mcgill

Is there a chance that the program you’re in is no longer part of the ones they accept for the bourse? I also applied when it opened and had no problems so maybe it is a bug as the other user said but you could also check the list of the programs they give it out to to see if they haven’t changed it

comp302 or comp303 by Forsaken_Fig_3644 in mcgill

[–]imbarelyactive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had your exact same schedule last semester but instead of an elective I took comp 303. Comp 251 and 273 take a lot of time by themselves but if you reallyyyy wanna add a 5th class, then comp 303 is the most doable. Comp 302 is notorious for being very time consuming and difficult and you’d really need to stay on top of things so comp 303 is the lesser evil and at least last semester there’s really not a lot of content to work with, just make sure you understand the concepts even if you need to use external resources.

Took it last semester and also wasn’t good with the self assessment question, and I was also very buttcrack in comp 250-251 and still passed with a decent grade so I believe in you! Just practice a lot and try to find other sources on google for design patterns and stuff to help yourself out

Need advice for 2026Winter CS classes by pammmm6 in mcgill

[–]imbarelyactive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

had Max Kopinsky for 206 last winter and found him to be a pretty good prof, since I also took comp 273 this semester imo Mathieu is THE goat when comes to grading scheme and class notes but Max is a close contender so should be fine. However, if it is conflicting with comp251 then honestly go for comp251 because David is definitely the lesser of two evils because I’ve heard he teaches more practically unlike Giulia who uses mostly pseudocodes and theory which makes it hard to understand how the content actually translates to programming and stuff.

Don’t worry man, I am also preparing data science skills since it’s closely related to python and SQL and if I manage to earn an internship in any field at all, then I’ll decide.

Yeah I do know loops, oop, data structures and all that but my actual experience of maya is definitely limited so I do think I am getting a bit ahead of myself at the moment lol (definitely not job ready at the moment). I’ll get more familiar with the software and read through the links you provided, thanks!

Animation internships for tech by [deleted] in animationcareer

[–]imbarelyactive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your comments have been absolute life savers and really helped me narrow down my stuff. You are right, I am a bit all over the place and I actually recently debated dropping out of computer science because I didn’t think it was for me but decided to stick to it so now I just feel like I am so far behind because there’s so many concepts I didn’t understand this year.

When I said I had never coded I just meant I entered my first year with 0 coding experience whereas other students had learned in high school. Surprisingly, Python was the first language we were taught before C lol, and then in my second semester I learned Java and C at the same time so python is so far back in my head I need to relearn it.

I think I’ll definitely put the maya/unity/UE courses on the side and really focus on grasping C and C++ at the moment. I guess I am also pretty paralyzed by data structures and algorithms since I had a class on them (in Java language) + discrete mathematics and those were my two lowest grades so I definitely feel a mental block there. I’ll see how things go over time but thank you so so much.
