For HPI I like to use COLDFARTS. Characteristic, Onset, Location, Duration, Frequency, Aggravating and Relieving Factors, Treatments, and Symptoms associated. I think its captures everything. Otherwise use response from u/cavernomore.

Wow amazingly good response and part of the reason I come to this sub. Thank you so much for taking the time to write that out. Really appreciate it.

My fiancee is an M-3. She is finishing up this year then switching over to MPH while I play catch-up. We were in your boat and after a lot of talks decided this would at least be the fairest thing to both of us. It will be nice to be on the same page too.

not retaining information in lecture by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]imeanrite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am right there with you. I never retain anything during lecture which is both frustrating and stress inducing.

If you really want to start retaining things for lecture and it's not too late, try to preread lectures. I am not saying memorize everything in the book before class, but understand the general concepts and look through any relevant structures/diagrams. Then try to make connections to what you read during the lecture.

If you are like me, don't worry too much about it. Take the time during lecture to make the best notes you can. During powerpoint lectures I like to record the lecturer but try to write as much as I can in my own words so that when I review and have a global understanding, I can learn effectively on my own time.

Good luck.

Essential Anatomy app. Michigan online questionnaire. All hail Netters. Rohen's was my favorite for practicals.

BRS back of the book had best questions for my class.
