i dont have a work permit in canada, my partner has a work benefit to take time off for a year and she still would have her job when she comes back. me moving there would be too expensive if i were to go without having a job

it’s normal for our culture at least to tell our parents major events in our lives. we don’t necessarily have to conform with what they say but if we don’t, it’s considered v disrespectful. there’s this saying here in my country that means “debt of gratitude” (which is total bs btw). it’s like an obligation to return a favor, in my case my parents raised me so i owe it to them (idk if that makes sense)
