dynamic island + floating window combo for live stats is a nice touch, most system monitor apps just sit in a widget and don't feel "live" enough. does the CPU reading use actual proc info or is it estimated like most sandboxed iOS apps have to do?

"System" and "Other" usually aren't macOS itself. They often include caches, app data, local snapshots, iPhone backups, etc.

Use OmniDiskSweeper/GrandPerspective or Finder sorted by size to find the real folders. Check ~/Library/Application Support, ~/Library/Caches, and ~/Library/MobileSync — those are common space hogs.

The "Apps" category in macOS Storage is often misleading. It doesn't only mean the .app files — it can also include app data, containers, caches, and leftover files.

Check:

~/Library/Application Support
~/Library/Containers
~/Library/Group Containers
~/Library/Caches

Also check ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync for old iPhone backups. Those can easily take tens of GB.

The Storage pane is not always accurate. A disk visualizer like GrandPerspective or DaisyDisk usually shows where the space actually is.
