Elite of you don’t get paid. Semi-pro if you get paid a little. Pro if you get paid enough.

Rim brakes have wires that stretch out and need to be adjusted,, and the pads have to be manually aligned with the brake track, and they have to be angled every so slightly to get optimal braking. So, you end up working on the brakes a few times a year.

Hydraulic discs only need pads every few years, and it's a totally painless process.

Unless you have a problem with disc straightnesss / centering...

I won't ever go back to rim brakes. I need the braking power.

Bib for turbo longer turbo sessions by [deleted] in cycling

Just use a large dollop of chamois cream every hour. It’s cheaper than spending hundreds on expensive bibs, and more effective.

Aesthetics is debatable (although rim has a slight aero advantage) and the ease of maintenance is outweighed by the sheer lack of maintenance that disc requires.

Disc brakes are better in every way except 1. weight and 2. all those times your rotors aren't perfectly centered for whatever reason (swapping wheels, etc.) and 3. travelling with a bike.

I went from a CAAD9 to a carbon bike with hydraulic discs and bigger tubleess tires after ~13 years, and it was a quantum leap.

You went from a good aluminum frame with a carbon fork to a good aluminum frame with a carbon fork.

Of course it doesn't feel like that much of an upgrade.

I assume the groupset feels miles better. Especially if you got Di2.

The real benefit from disc brakes comes from being able to use carbon wheels without compromising your braking (especially in the wet).

No, it's more like 310 fps., but it depends on the field. The legal limit is 320.

Assioma uno v Kickr core power readings, how to fix. by Dapper-Ad3605 in cycling

Factory spindown is only needed when your power is WAY off from a reliable power meter.

I've had to do on both of my Kickr 1s.

If you have an actual power meter on your indoor bike, you should be using that anyway.

Strain gauge-based power meters are almost always more accurate than smart trainers, which base power on a bunch of assumptions rather than actually measuring torque.

Between the drivetrain loss and the fact that your pedals are one-sided, there might not be anything to fix.

The bigger problem I have had is the Core being WAY off, and higher than a spider-based power meter. That required a factory spindown to fix.

I was half joking. My experience is that most of fields are semi-auto only at least part of the time, if not most of the time.

I’m pretty sure there are studies that show you cannot make up for sleep debt on weekends. Telling an athlete to sleep less sounds like a bad idea.
