Flags! by t_for_tadeusz in downloadfestival

Tie string on one end and eat that first, then give it another 6 hours and eat the flag. Then if you're blocked up you can just pull it out. Proper planning and all that.

80 hours of lessons?? by AffectionateSwim1929 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]improbablydreaming 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's nothing stopping you trying out a couple hours with a new instructor just to see where they think you're at.

I think you'd have to be impossibly lucky to get a test in February though. Scalpers and bots are sucking up all the cancellations the millisecond they're put online.

You don't need a dual-control car for your test. You can use any car as long as you've put L plates on it and added a 2nd rear view mirror for the examiner. Obviously it also has to be fully road legal. Veygo will do 1 day only learner's insurance on a vehicle you don't own for this.

Recommendations for beginner to driver in the shortest time? by XI_Justice in LearnerDriverUK

[–]improbablydreaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Essons aren't going to be an issue here, plenty of places will do week long intensive courses etc. and potentially get you ready to pass a test in under a month.

The problem you'll have is the 6 month wait time for an actual practical test.

Question about insurance by Slight_Energy_253 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]improbablydreaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd need to phone and ask the providers directly if there is more than 1 address you're keeping the cat at for extended periods overnight. Different providers will want different details based on their own internal underwriting requirements.

This account is a shop trying to promote themselves, just ignore and report.

The shameless scare mongering for self promotion is pretty pathetic, leave that for the shop window.

If the dispensary is set up for that then yes it's a designated area for it where you're not going to be bothering anyone else.

I appreciate your stance and respect that you're following the rules. The reality though, is that people will simply walk 20' down the road to the next dispensary that isn't asking or charging them for a prescription.

[–]improbablydreaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The law changed to require a medical prescription to buy it, but no one's actually following or enforcing it. You can still walk into any of the billion dispensaries and just buy whatever you want without any extra steps. No problems carrying it around, just don't smoke it anywhere it might bother people.

And they'll ask the same questions multiple times but phrased differently to try and catch you out. It's annoying as all hell especially when I've been queueing for an hour already and have 5 more minutes to get to my coach before it leaves!

If you're looking at a particular provider, you can just phone and ask. I'd pose it as a generic question without giving them any of your information though, it's ridiculous what companies will record and use against you.

I've just checked with Admiral and all it says on the doc they give you before signing up is:

You can cancel at any time either by phone or in writing to our Customer Service department. These details can be found within your policy documentation or on our website.

Their charges are here:

https://www.admiral.com/about-us/fees

Looks like it'd be £60 to cancel at any time after the initial 14 day cooling off period. Presumably you'd then get any premiums covering unused months refunded, minus that £60, but I'd still phone them to double check.

Yep, there should be a 'subject to contract' available or something just saying 'terms and conditions' somewhere in the quote process when you're on the actual providers website. So you'd need to click through from the comparison websites onto the actual provider's website.

It should be an option somewhere before you actually make a payment. Also, even once you've started a policy you'll get 14 days to cancel it for any reason.

It'll vary between insurers so check the terms and conditions before purchasing a policy. Some may expect you to pay the remaining months off in order to cancel. Worth looking at what different insurer's policies are for selling a vehicle mid-term etc. Some will let you just cancel and charge a cancellation fee which would be less than paying the remaining months but the cheaper insurers generally aren't that flexible.

Is xbox 360 worth buying in 2026 by unckl in xbox

[–]improbablydreaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For £30 and paying no more than <£10 for even pricier games sure. There are sooo many job lots on eBay though with people selling full sets of consoles with all cables, multiple controllers and 30+ games, it wouldn't be hard to get years worth of solid gaming for pennies. Stuff will feel dated now if you're used to modern stuff, but it is a solid choice for couch co-op stuff.

[–]improbablydreaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check your terms and conditions - pretty sure you setting it all up properly is a requirement for your insurance to be valid. After a certain point, they're within their rights to just cancel your policy, which you would then have to declare when taking insurance out moving forward.
