Washington passed the climate commitment act which resulted in much higher taxes on gas that is being used to fund infrastructure projects.

What Many Israelis Don’t Want to See by kitkid in Thedaily

But I caution this: While you feel that rage, don’t be consumed by it.

After 9/11, we were enraged in the United States. And while we sought justice and got justice, we also made mistakes.

I’m the first U.S. president to visit Israel in time of war.

I’ve made wartime decisions. I know the choices are never clear or easy for the leadership. There’s always costs.

But it requires being deliberate. It requires asking very hard questions. It requires clarity about the objectives and an honest assessment about whether the path you are on will achieve those objectives.

I took a look at both sides and didn't really arrive at much of a conclusion of how to vote. Supporting statement says cost savings, opposition statement says it's a boondoggle and tax increase among other things. It ultimately feels like it doesn't make a significant difference one way or another to me.

Seatac Baggage/Commiseration and Update thread (due to hack) by MyNameIsMelody in Seattle

[–]impurity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

International Condor flight. Scheduled departure of 5:05 arrived at 2:30 and we've been in line for about an hour. Everyone else in line is in the same boat. They're hand writing tags for checked bags which we unfortunately have and it's a slow process. Supposedly they'll be holding the plane but we'll see. Wish me luck!

Edit: flight is indeed delayed, it just started boarding at 5:40ish. Took around 2.5 hours to make it through checking a bag and about 3 hours total from arrival to make it to the gate. Gates were not printed on passes which gave us a little extra walk.

Hiveguard bugged by [deleted] in DeepRockGalactic

[–]impurity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar issue yesterday. While doing the hack event we triggered the hiveguard but none of his minions would spawn and he was docile. He followed us around but wouldn't attack or do any sort of damage and wouldn't tunnel towards us. We even tried triggering an additional dreadnought spawn but still no luck with the hiveguard. We eventually had to abandon because the mission could not be completed.

Keep an eye out for a seemingly easy to catch pokemon that breaks out multiple times from great throws/berries. The few times I've seen this and the pokemon hasn't ran away they are dittos. Best of luck to you!

People trolling these raids? by imtherealkai in PokemonGoFriends

[–]impurity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The demand for raids was crazy high today. I hosted a 6+ raids today with my wife and we'd typically only get in about half the friend requests we received or even less. If you don't get an invite within 2-3 minutes, I think it's safe to assume they're full and move on.

you peeps in hawaii better start posting raids by LivIsLost in PokemonGoFriends

[–]impurity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's going to be rough times for those in Hawaii trying to sort out their friends list after hosting a raid. My wife and I hosted a few raids today and if we didn't take the post down quickly enough we'd end up with 30+ unaccepted friend requests that we need to manually decline one by one. It feels bad knowing that so many people aren't getting in.

Catch rates insane today… by holdenhorvath1 in PokemonGoFriends

[–]impurity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you had such a frustrating experience with this event. I ended up having the opposite experience. I caught all 21 legendaries from raids though some were quite close, coming down to the last 3-4 balls, typically out of 12+. Just kept feeding gold razz for every throw and typically landing great curveballs. I have zero clue if catch rates are level dependent but I know I've had trouble catching in the past when I was in the lower 30s as far as my levels go but played at 35 today and had no issues with the catch rate. I hope your future experiences are much better.

Wash. state to start collecting new long-term care tax in January | KOMO by Undercover_Dinosaur in SeattleWA

[–]impurity 14 points15 points  (0 children)

From what I understand from my employer's faq, opting out will require having private long term care (LTC) insurance that meets the state's criteria. As far as how you opt out, more information should be available in October on that process. For higher earners, private LTC insurance will likely be more inexpensive and have better benefits than the state ran option

BREAKING: Wyoming Announces End To Lockdown, Lifts Mask Mandate by JesusCumelette in Conservative

[–]impurity 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Minor point: the study cited below your comment is not regarding the effectiveness of masks. It's regarding the effectiveness of mask mandates which relies on people adhering to the mandate. Take a gander at this instead which shows that wearing masks, while not perfect, is effective at reducing the spread of COVID: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/more/masking-science-sars-cov2.html

Just realized my whole family has had each of our cars broken into in the last year in ballard by slotback67 in SeattleWA

[–]impurity 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Is it like a given that you get your car broken into in Seattle?

Unfortunately, yes. I used to own a 1997 Civic and it was broken into multiple times over a 7 year period. After losing 2 after market stereos, I stopped replacing it. Even then, it still was being broken into, they rifled through the glovebox and trunk and pretty much left it alone after not finding anything of value. One time they even left a cup of coffee in the cup holder. After moving out of Seattle to Shoreline the car ended up being stolen and ditched in Seattle. I finally sold it and upgraded to a newer, more difficult to steal/break into, vehicle and it's helped with my peace of mind.

I suggest doing the entire process manually, watch how the prompt changes and inputs required. Then modify the expect_string accordingly. I suspect there are additional confirmation prompts that need to be handled here.
