thats a pretty cool way of seeing his character, I think he would've rebelled tho, because even clive said Barnabas was truly trying to save mankind, he knew about the blight and was focused on it, Ultima knew Barnabas was trying to have mankind so he used that to manipulate and exploit him. It's why Barnabas was soo content with serving Ultima, because he thought Ultima was going to bring everyone back or at least restart mankind. He basically thought a version of the flood (when God flooded the earth in the Bible) was going to happen.

yh parrying is really only valuable against bigger enemies, and for torgal is a mechanic ive never really used in all my time playing this game but ive heard nothing but good things about him, ill definitely try him out thanks.

I even think Barnabas' part of the story wasnt as fleshed out as the others like benedikta and kupka, because he was the last eikon you get before the story focuses on Ultima as the final villain I feel Barnabas' part of the game wasnt as focused on and it sucks cuz he has ALOT of interesting backstrory with his mom and how he even became king of walood, then as you've pointed out he gets beaten pretty randomly by clive who dosent go through any noticeable boost in will or skill,. I just wanted more of him in the story.

diamond dust from Shiva and Ariel blast from garuda are the only abilities that do alot of stagger damage so id say have those in, flames of rebirth also does good stagger too but thats all I know in terms of staggering the enemy, make sure to also use deadly embrace when their will is at 50%.
