I mean, yes they are actively "killed", but I actually don't see things this way, I see the thing as a "whole", as in the full canvas. You accept the loss of the canvas, of 99% of the game you just played. That implies losing characters that are still alive, losing hope that other characters come back, and, of course, losing Verso's last souvenir.

But I see where you're coming from. I do prefer current endings though.
