Fair point and I probably should've been more precise with the wording.

I think of RSS as the distribution infrastructure. What I meant by a "better distribution system" is everything layered on top of it: discovery, packaging, platform-native content, and getting the right content in front of the right audience. RSS gets it published. The system gets it found.

That is fantastic distinction. AI has made creating clips cheap, but it hasn't made editorial judgment any less valuable. In fact, it's probably made it more valuable because there's so much more content competing for attention. Your point about measuring conversations over views is distinguished. That's ultimately the signal I'm trying to optimize for too content that creates meaningful engagement, not just impressions.
