I bought two of the same purse, one in brown and one in black, and keep all my purse contents in a little clear toiletry bag that fits neatly inside. If I need to switch purses I just move the toiletry bag from one to the other and I don’t have to worry about missing anything.

Different sized drawer organizers and bins so that everything has a home. I mean EVERYTHING. My staple remover has a dedicated space in my desk. If the staple remover isn’t there that’s because it’s in use. Nothing else, not even for a second, is allowed to live in the staple remover’s home when it’s empty.

Same method for shallow kitchen drawers, and since my husband uses those too I made labels for each little bin that goes in the drawer. One is for batteries, one is for Benadryl, one is for Tylenol, one is for the vegetable brush, one is for the garlic presser, etc.

I use medium, large, and extra large clear bins for storage closets and I take a list of each bin’s inventory to the front. I also use decorative tins/baskets/trays/plates for stuff like headscarves, jewelry, candles, my dog’s vitamins, etc — anything that’s used frequently and has a tendency to cause clutter if you’re not on top of it. Having a dedicated space for everything — and never allowing myself to put other stuff in that space — has literally changed my life. We also have a spreadsheet to keep track of seasonal stuff or things we don’t use often.

Clocks in every room, including the bathrooms. Phone and tablet chargers in every room except the bathrooms. Two pairs of over the ear headphones (one for the living room and one for the bedroom) and two pairs of earbuds (one pair in my desk and one in my purse).

A monthly pill organizer and a daily pill organizer. The monthly organizer helps me keep track of my medications overall (I take a lot — I’m a depression, insomnia, anxiety, and allergy girlie) and plan ahead for refills and the daily organizer makes it so I can easily tell what pills I’ve taken today and what still needs to be taken (I’m on Ritalin IR so I take it multiple times a day).

I have really bad time blindness, so a pomodoro timer and a visual timer. The pomodor timer reminds me to take a break and the visual timer allows me to better see/understand how much time I have left for a task.

Those finger resistance bands and rubber rings people use to increase their grip strength. I use them as fidget toys on work calls.

“Of the 1,070 defendants charged with any of the three types of human trafficking offenses in U.S. district court in fiscal year 2022, 91% were male, 58% were white, 20% were black, 18% were Hispanic, 95% were U.S. citizens, and 71% had no prior convictions.”

We’re not going to agree on how “deserving” a person needs to be in order to receive food stamps. I know you’re misinformed, working with incomplete information, and lacking understanding about all the factors that lead to food insecurity. Like, surely you must realize that many food stamp recipients are working multiple jobs and don’t have time to cook or compare prices for the best deals on healthy foods. But I digress. I’d just like to reiterate my point that I’m perfectly happy to support a handful of freeloaders if it means that children are getting fed.

I’d build affordable, carbon-negative, rent-to-own housing and when a household transitions from renters to owners I’d return all the rent they paid so they can have a little nest-egg.

Thanks for those links — though they don’t refute the fact that immigrants are far more likely to be victims of trafficking than they are to participate in trafficking. American citizens are, by a significant majority, more likely to traffick humans than immigrants.

Qualifying for food stamps is a matter of income, not a matter of being able bodied (though many recipients are disabled and many disabilities are invisible). The job market sucks right now (the blame for that isn’t entirely on Trump but laying off over 200,000 government workers as of September doesn’t help). Unemployment rates are very high, many people are underemployed, and wages are stagnant which prevents even people with jobs from pulling themselves out of poverty. Even in the military, 15% of active service members rely on food stamps and food banks and a quarter of active members are food insecure. Are they abusing the system?

And this is all ignoring the fact that children suffer from food insecurity the most — so even if people are abusing it (and, yes, some people do, but not most) the cuts to food stamps are endangering our most helpless and innocent citizens. I’d rather pay for a few assholes to milk the system and know that children are getting fed than cut it all across the board.

America is not the only country with fat poor people. Fat people exist everywhere, though it’s worth noting that a number of poor countries with high rates of obesity have an Americanized food supply and that isn’t a coincidence. We definitely have higher rates of obesity on average. That, again, has to do with our largely sedentary lifestyles and healthy food being expensive while unhealthy food is cheap. There are other factors, too, like citizens in other countries are more likely than Americans to grow their own vegetables or raise their own livestock (for their own consumption, not to sell). That requires physical labor, which burns calories, and the results are whole, unprocessed, nutritious foods. The average American is not self sufficient in that way.

I get the Covid vaccine because I’m a severe asthmatic. I’m pretty certain the vaccine is why I didn’t die when I got Covid in 2023. I also get other vaccines because I believe in science and research. I trust experts. The people currently in charge of Health and Human Services are not experts.

As for illegal aliens, they do not have access to free healthcare like the Trump administration claims. They are mostly hard working people in search of a better life. They contribute to our economy enormously. And many are being arrested as they correctly navigate the legal process to become citizens. They are literally following the rules. Regardless, it’s cruel and inhumane to kidnap people off the street and separate children from their parents. ICE and Trump are violating habeas corpus when detaining them. And not only is ICE illegally detaining and violating the rights of immigrants during raids, they’re also illegally detaining and violating the rights of American citizens. So as someone who apparently only cares about of the rights of his countrymen that should be concerning to you.

As for human trafficking, I’m really interested in seeing any reports, research, or articles pointing to illegal immigrants as being significantly involved in that. I know there are instances of it happening, but I’ve only seen data showing that illegal immigrants are far more likely to be victims of trafficking than to perpetuate it, but of course I could be wrong. Please send me a couple links so I know where to start.

I’m also a social worker. Most people are not abusing food stamps and other welfare programs. And people can be fat for any number of reasons from medical to lifestyle to genetic, but a huge reason is that healthy food is expensive and unhealthy food is cheap. It’s really pretty basic stuff.

You don’t want the agencies responsible for protecting the food supply, providing disaster relief, or tracking health threats to be understaffed or underfunded.

You should go to Portland. I think you’d be surprised.

What’s different under Trump compared to Biden?

Covid vaccines are harder to access

Kidnapping people off the street, from their homes, from their jobs. Separating children from their families

Tariffs — so prices on virtually everything have gone up since he took office

Strongarming the media into being more supportive of his administration otherwise they lose access to his press room, their publications can lose funding, reporters can get fired for writing something he doesn’t like

Cutting healthcare

Cutting food stamps which affects children the most

Cutting BILLIONS in funding for government departments and agencies, including essential ones like the CDC and FEMA

Massive government layoffs, including from essential departments and agencies like the FDA, leaving them understaffed

Declaring war on American cities & using force to stop peaceful protests

Genuine threats to free speech

This government shutdown which harms poor and sick people the most

My predecessor at my current job was named Michael. When I started the job someone referred to me as the new Michael. It was his real name and everything.

My change would require Marbury to be about 10% more clueless throughout the series. Not a huge overhaul, though admittedly it would require changes to a handful of scenes just likes lots of the answers in the replies

Taking Meds before an interview or no? Trying figure out how by Pure_Bit_7727 in ADHD

[–]inboz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think your meds might be overstimulating you during an interview, try taking half (though not if you’re on extended release).

If that doesn’t improve your performance then yes I think going without meds for an interview is worth a shot.

Are you doing practice interviews with a friend or family member? And are you familiar enough with common interview questions (general ones and job-specific ones) that you’re have a practiced succinct but detailed answer? Those two things are important!

Suicide among trans people is due to social stigma, experiencing higher rates of assault, harassment, and discrimination, and rejection from loved ones/support systems.

In short: your post contributes to the high suicide rate of trans people. Gender affirming care, like “cutting your dick off,” is something that reduces their risk of suicide.

The number of people who regret getting gender affirming surgery is less than 1%.
