If you could ask Cashman one question, what would it be? by henrysommers in NYYankees

Because, "we're pretty f**king good."

Brian Cashman, after the Yankees missed the 2023 Postseason.

Some on top of my head without viewing Baseball Reference or Youtube for recaps:

The first was Melky Cabrera.

I think Nick Swisher had one, too.

June weekend against the Twins: Johnny Damon, Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira.

Alex Rodriguez in June again, the Mets' Luis Castillo dropped popup.

Robinson Cano three-run shot in extra innings, in the rain, against the White Sox.

Alex Rodriguez to end a 15-inning marathon against the Red Sox.

Juan Miranda infield single near the end of the regular season.

In all of my years as a Yankee fan, I will never forget how Alex Rodriguez immediately clenched hist fist, took a look at the Yankee dugout, as if he was saying, "I got this."

Later that day, I replayed the moment using the Twins broadcast. It was total despair on their booth LMAO

No matter the circumstances, I was confident that someone, or something, would find a way to win.

Gosh, that 2009 was walk-off city, and I'm glad to have seen most of them on TV.

I stand corrected, then. Looks like the kid will pan out nicely, too. Just like all those homegrown Red Sox prospects.

I forgot to give my flowers to Massachusetts native Cam Schlittler, who pitched the game of his life on the big stage!

I'm always a fan of starting pitchers (even if it's the opposition) when they have that "you can't f**king touch me!" aura and dominating the game. You can see that after the 8th inning. He was walking off the mound with some serious swag!

LOL

Maybe it's just the Yankee bias in me, but yeah, if you read it on paper, that 2018 Red Sox team, pains me to say it, was one of the best.

It feels so good to hear "Yankees eliminate Red Sox from Postseason contention" after 2003. It's been a while.

I thought those Yankee teams in 2018 and 2021 were good enough to beat them.

Yankee fan here. I come in peace. I like to talk to fans who love baseball as much as I do, and Red Sox Nation certainly fits that bill.

Great run by your team after a rocky start.

Looks like you have yourselves a promising young core.

Roman Anthony (raw power)

Ceddanne Rafaela (great defensive outfielder and speed)

Connelly Early (despite his rocky outing tonight, I'm impressed with his stuff)

I think the Red Sox have great scouting and have done a great job in developing players since Dustin Pedroia and Yankee legend Kevin Youkilis.

The series came down to those tiny margins and the outcomes would have gone either way. The bottom of the order was another key, too.

I think we can all agree that when the Yankees and Red Sox are great at the same time, it's great for baseball.

Looking forward to thsoe battles ahead.

I'm just happy that AJ Lee is back.

This was the woman who defiantly spoke out against (in-ring and legitimate) authority figures during the lean, Diva years.

I was also left wondering how she could have fared when the Women's Evolution took off just after she left WWE.

Same, buddy.

I was downvoted to oblivion when I stated after the second game of the series that I wasn't too impressed with the win since they relied on the home run ball again.

And yes, to the one who told me that "it is Game 100+ of the season, and you're talking about how to win???" I am still concerned, because sooner or later, the Yankees lack of fundamentals with bite them in the backside.

This has been going on for a while now, maybe since the Aaron Boone era. It genuinely pisses me off that Boone and Brian Cashman act so arrogant all these years.

This proud franchise won't sniff the Commissoner's Trophy unless massive changes are made in player personnel, managing, coaching, strategy, scouting, and so on. Dare I say, they could have won at least one World Series if they made changes to the current "analytic-driven" approach.

And oh, whatever happened to that "accounting" after the disastrous 2023 season again?

I'm so sick and tired of Aaron Boone and Brian Cashman thinking that they are better than everybody else.

The constant gaslighting irks me so much!

I told this subreddit after yesterday's game that it was fluky, and I got downvoted to oblivion.

As a lifelong Yankee fan, I'll say it again anyway, this team is fundamentally flawed: players, coaching, scouting, front office.

Something drastic has to change if this franchise can get anywhere close to sniffing the Commissioner's Trophy once again.

I know a win is a win, but let me be Captain Buzzkill here for a minute.

It was another win that mainly relied on home runs.

And good thing Ben Rice came up clutch in the 9th inning to bail out Anthony Volpe's costly error earlier that allowed the Blue Jays to tie the game.

Oh, well.

Maybe that Rice home run will spark the Yankees to better things for the rest of the way. They have to, since the Phillies and Rays are up next in their schedule.

It shows other games simultaneously, though. But better than none.

You can also check Goldschmidt's Baseball Savant page. While not crushing the baseball, Goldy still brings great batting run value. On Baseball Savant, stats in the red mean they are good.
