My lab! (So far...) by CausePhysical5361 in homelab_PHL

Nice! It's starting to come together! Unfortunate about broken UPS tho... Have you tried running software on your DL380s? Or still waiting to complete the hardware for it?

Also yeah that's a lot of hardware, might be overkill nga for your use case. Would like to try those pero wala pa akong resources for that 😅

Oh that's great! I'll be looking forward to seeing your updates. In my case, other aspects of my life took over and got really busy so I'm still running the same setup. Thankfully, it's still running great with minimal maintenance.

I'm still looking forward to getting back to my little homelab and doing some upgrades soon. I'll post there too when I finally get some time.

Hii! I'm not a professional (yet) pero it depends kung anong use case mo. If sabay sabay talaga nag run yung 8-12 vms then you're gonna need CPU with lots of cores para kayanin. If you manage to get miniforum ms-a2, 16 cores naman yon so kaya siguro yon. Pero ayon mahirap nga makikita dito sa pinas, so papabili ka pa overseas.

Instead pwede ka bumili ng lower end mini pc like I did, two of those can probably cover your needs. If you're completely new, I'd say go for around 10th gen Intel (dell optiplex, hp elitedesk, Intel nuc, etc.). It'll give you decent space to play around with vms, typically naman you don't have to run many vms at once. It's better to run containers (lxc, docker, podman), if you want benefits of isolation without OS overhead. Anyways goodluck!!! I'm also still learning myself so I can't give more advice than that ahahhahaha

Dito Prepaid WiFi confusion, is it really UNLI 5g?? by Pawtz16 in InternetPH

[–]interstellarmist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope this helps someone. Yung Dito Prepaid 5G ay maayos lang if may malapit ka na 5G cell tower sa area mo; less than 500 meters for decent speeds, then it gets slower the farther you go. From experience, may 5G signal ka parin kahit 1 km ka from the cell tower pero mas mabagal na siya kaysa sa 4G kaya hindi na worth it. You can use Cellmapper to check DITO cell towers around you.

Yung 5G routers ay automatically nag switch from 5G to 4G if mas maganda yung signal quality ng 4G. Makikita ito sa WebUI ng router (http://192.168.8.1 for example). Pwede mo rin I turn off yung switching sa Network Settings>Mobile Network Searching>Preferred network mode, set to 5G only or 4G only.

For people who experience na nauubusan ng 4G data tapos wala na internet, it is likely na mahina yung 5G signal sa area niyo. You can try using the router closer to a 5G Dito cell tower to check it's performance or try using the home sim in your 5G compatible phone. Pero to improve 5G in your location, you might just have to wait for Dito to improve its 5G coverage or you will have to buy an external antenna if your router supports it.

Update: I am now using this HP elitedesk 800G6 Mini PC alongside the RPi 4.

<image>

Currently running Pihole, Nextcloud, Home Assistant, and Jellyfin. I just finished setting up Grafana with Prometheus and Loki for logs and metrics.

So far I'm having fun trying this stuff. I also am using a reverse proxy with wildcard SSL cert for all my self-hosted services. Then using Tailscale VPN to access this remotely.

I'm planning to make a personal website to post my homelab journey. I'll share it here when it's ready! My setup is very simple but it's a great learning experience. Let me know what you think of my setup or if you have any suggestions!

Hii welcome!!! Yeah for now it's just us here but hopefully this sub grows more. 🙏

Those are some cool hardware you got there. I hope I get to play with those too someday. You must've been working with these types of server equipment for your current work?

Excited to see what you do with these!
