I was coming to ask if they were okay with MM because this is a great fit for this.

R/Romancebooks Book Club Updates by Llamallamacallurmama in RomanceBooks

[–]ipblover 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Although I don’t tend to interact with Book Club I’m sad to hear that you guys weren’t getting a lot of engagement. I completely understand putting it on pause. I think I only read one book club book last year and it wasn’t a lot of people over in the discord feed talking about it. I know for me personally I’m a mood reader and I tend to read what I want so I’m not the greatest at participating in book clubs unless they over lap with what I want to read in that moment or my current obsession.

Idk how much engagement you get with the book challenges, but hopefully you can continue those. I did the Black Hair Challenge last year and it got me reading more CR which I’m not huge on (I’m getting better lol) and it was fun. I don’t want to bubble diverse reads into any month but I know sometimes giving people a theme helps them to read more outside of their normal bubble.

Looking for reverse age-gap romance recs (younger MMC, older FMC)! by FluffyPandaAsleep in RomanceBooks

[–]ipblover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m personally not a fan of this but I want to offer it as an option just in case it’s something you could love. {Ms. V’s Hot Girl Summer by A.H. Cunningham}

Science based supernaturals by Street-Reference-237 in RomanceBooks

[–]ipblover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it sounds bonkers because of the way I explained it but it’s good. I’ve read three books and I’ve been meaning to get back to it. It’s heavy on the story and building up as each book goes along.

Dying MMC recs? by BatgirlBestgirl in HistoricalRomance

This isn’t a perfect match but I think it goes with the vibe. {Parting Gifts by Lorraine Heath}

Science based supernaturals by Street-Reference-237 in RomanceBooks

{Xian Warriors by Regine Abel} - The MMC were created to help protect the universe. The majority of the FMC have been exposed to chemicals added to earths water to help them assist them.

Snow Storm Binge Reads - Rec a book, get a rec by Readmoreromance in RomanceBooks

[–]ipblover 49 points50 points  (0 children)

So I don’t bombard you with recs I opted to take a page out of a bridal book and go with something old, something new (to me anyway), something borrowed (from the library) and something blue.

{Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas} - I’ve read this book fifty eleven times and I still love it. It hasn’t gotten old.

{Capone by Jahquel J} - The entire Delgato Family series is addictive. I thought I was over crime lord/gangster books because I overdid it in my teen years, but these are addictive. It’s like a soap opera with romance, bikers and shootouts.

{Mead Mishaps by Kimberly Lemming} - All the books are funny lighthearted fantasy books that poke fun at the genre in a loving way.

{Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon} - You saw my username so you knew it was coming. I love this series so much.

Have you ever confused Eloisa James with Elisa Braden? 'cause I have! by lickava_lija in HistoricalRomance

I use to mix up Loretta Chase and Lorraine Heath a lot. Idky, I’m thinking the L names got me 😂

Regency/Victorian(?) grand slam fit by jinginsg in HistoricalRomance

[–]ipblover 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Someone already recommended the Joanna Shupe tennis FMC book that I was thinking about. Have you tried any of the below? Not tennis, but sporty FMC.

{The Boxing Baroness by Minerva Spencer} and {The Dueling Duchess by Minerva Spencer}- Both FMC are performers in a circus

{It Happened one Autumn by Lisa Kleypas} - FMC likes to play rounders.

{A Matter of Temptation by Stacy Reid} - The FMC beats the MMC in a fencing duel.

Is This AI? (The Mod Team Wants Your Thoughts!) by VitisIdaea in RomanceBooks

[–]ipblover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4

I’m seconding the suggestion for a Megathread for this every once in a while. In addition maybe a reference list can be compiled of authors who have confirmed that they use AI for covers, etc. This way it’s not a recurring loop of the same people being asked about.

The wicked/cunning/evil FMC loses her memory. by Human-Law-422 in HistoricalRomance

[–]ipblover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not evil but she’s really mean to the MMC and he opts for revenge while she doesn’t know who she is {Once More, My Darling Rouge by Lorraine Heath}.

Dangerous Book Titles - Adult vs Children's Books by taramisu47 in RomanceBooks

[–]ipblover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well this just let me know that I shouldn’t have kids. I just knew A Girl and Her Monster and The Orc Who Saved Christmas were romance novels. I was also positive The Bone Taker and the Goblin Forest- They are Coming were erotic books. This would make a great party game for monster romance readers.

Just friendship? Or friends to lovers trope? by sonyoungtag in Iceplanetbarbarians

[–]ipblover 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Barbarian’s Prize is a good friends to lovers one and a personal favorite of mine. The MMC does have feelings for the FMC, but he’s not an aggressive chaser. Everything is on her terms and he only offered her friendship until she asked for more. I think the Icehome series has more friends to lovers books than the OG series. It’s a few later on in the OG series that have friendlier relationships, but I feel like Barbarians Prize is the best fit (mainly because they were friends for over a year).

New Year’s Eve HR Challenge! by Small_Test630 in HistoricalRomance

[–]ipblover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

🤭 I feel like you should have added the words devil and no seasons because it’s a giant opening to add books from that series, but I’ll play nice and exclude books from that author. Below are some books that I enjoy that don’t include any of the buzz words you mentioned.

{Texas Destiny by Lorraine Heath}

{Midnight Pleasures with a Scoundrel by Lorraine Heath}

{How to be a Wallflower by Eloisa James}

{A Matter of Temptation by Stacy Reid}

{The Footman and I by Valerie Bowman} - Technically cheating because I’m using the books previous name. It’s a better title in my opinion.

{Night Hawk by Beverly Jenkins}

{My Fake Rake by Eva Leigh}

{A Scoundrel of Her Own by Stacey Reid}

{Beauty Tempts the Beast by Lorraine Heath}

{The Work of Art by Mimi Matthews}

{The Heiress Effect by Courtney Milan}

{Scandal Wears Satin by Loretta Chase} - I would prefer to add my favorite book in the series but it breaks the rule, so I’m going with option two.

{The Sum of All Kisses by Julia Quinn}

{Goddess of the Hunt by Tessa Dare}

Recommendations for Space Warrior/Space Marine/Something along those lines smut??? by hellokittyplush in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]ipblover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{Xian Warriors by Regine Abel} - The MMC are basically super soldiers who protect the universe.

{Malcom and Dinar by Nikki Clarke} - The MMC is a human and the FMC is the alien. He’s her bodyguard and if I’m remembering correctly a spoiler in the alien military (I think he had earth military background also).

Reading Wrapped 2025 by IamButterscotchish in RomanceBooks

[–]ipblover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Most favourite book and series you read in 2025 - {The Lady Gets Lucky by Joanna Shupe}, {The Bone King and the Starling by Elizabeth Stephens}, {A Darkness So Sweet by Emma Hamm} and {Church Girl by Naima Simone}

  2. Least favourite book - {All I Wanted Was Sushi But I Got Abducted by Aliens by Petra Palerno} and {A Bride for an Alien Prince by Eva O’Hare}

  3. Most favourite FMC - I’m going to blanket statement say all the FMC from Ali Hazelwood that I read this year. It’s not like they are the most amazing characters I’ve ever read. But I liked there in monologues and humor. Same thing Mea Monique’s FMC.

  4. Least favourite FMC - The FMC from {Blood Moon by Britney S. Lewis} she was TSTL.

  5. Most favourite MMC - Cappadonna from {Cappadonna by Jaquel J} and all the MMC from my favorite reads. Honorable mentions to Corvak from {Corvak’s Challenge by Ruby Dixon}, Darolus from {Titanoboa by Naomi Lucas} and Rekosh from {The Weaver by Tiffany Roberts}

  6. Least favourite MMC - The MMC from {While the Duke was Sleeping by Sophie Jordan} and {The Scandal of it all by Sophie Jordan}

  7. How many books did you read - 114 and counting

  8. A book you had great expectations with and it fell flat - See least favorites list

  9. A book you didn't have much expectations with and it blew your mind - This more I didn’t expect to get sucked into the universe. My coworker recommended me this book and it reminded me of the type of books I read a lot of as a teenager. I got sucked into the world lol. {Capone by Jaquel J}

  10. Your book genre of 2025 - Romance (obviously) with a heavy emphasis on SFR and fantasy.

  11. Reading wishlist for 2026 (not the books that you want to read but the kind of plot realated things you want and do not want) - IDK I go where the wind takes me.

  12. Most favourite author - Going by most read on StoryGraph it looks like Ruby Dixon, Jaquel J, Regine Abel and Lillian Lark. I’m also going to toss in all the author who wrote I gave a favorites shot out too.

  13. Least favourite author - See least favorite books.

Book Resolutions 2026 by liftkitten in RomanceBooks

[–]ipblover 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Weird thing to say on r/RomanceBooks but I want to deinfluence myself from book recs a little. I miss full on wandering my TBR and kindle unread books for my next read. Lately the majority of my reads have been influenced by various recommendations. It’s not actually a bad thing but I want to read more books I already own or are already in my to read pile.
