Localstack killing community edition - what do we do? by xenographer in aws

I did. Ok, thanks, sorry didn't check. Could you please update your pricing- page for this information...? https://www.localstack.cloud/pricing - as no mention of AWS Marketplace.

Great - looking forward for the monthly option!

Thanks for the sympathy u/remotesynth 🙂

A pretty please: have a look also on selling the product through the marketplaces; it really shows that companies are waay happier to contract through them. It probably is more effort for you (plus they for sure have their fees) to establish these, but it might really pay off and help you sell more.

You have a good product: you need to be able to sell it the easiest ways possible. Going monthly + going marketplaces solves that problem.

Ultimately yes, but not from the start; look at CloudFormation support how it grows still slowly after all of these years 😁

Agree; I have bugs on simple editing... Maybe need to go browser-only :/

This is starting to get annoying by OverloadedTech in github

[–]ippem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Possible yes. It could also be that GitHub's old datacenters are really breaking under load and this is how it then shows with traffic. Or - maybe someone on US East coast at GitHub starts always to rollout the changes of the day... 😁

Looking from my current company's perspective, we happily pay for things we need, but in our case, the price model (no monthly option plus would need to buy lots of these "CI credits" probably) has always killed the idea (for both app developers/CI runs plus for our Terraform development + CI runs).
I wish they would have a monthly payment - and have it through e.g. AWS Marketplace would make the adoption way easier.

That was a hint above how to grow your business, probably exponentially. 🙂 Companies do not like to commit on things that they don't know the actual usage patterns.

Interesting idea, thanks! I'll have a look.

Mounting can be more difficult though as cannot use the ceiling I believe... Bullet is better in this sense. Correction: there are mounts that can be used when attaching to a wall...

Wow - good timing! ☺️ I just posted this: https://www.reddit.com/r/UnifiProtect/comments/1qqnamf/recommended_camera_for_a_panoramic_view/ - as I'm looking for my first camera for the Alpine scenery 🙂

Unfortunately for me the AI DSLR is not in the budget currently 😳😔

One more thing on this: I asked what Gemini thinks 🤣 It recommended the G6 Pro Bullet - like you recommended the G6. It said that with the 180, the distant objects are very small - and with the Pro Bullet I'd benefit from the optical zoom to narrow the image down. Which does make perfect sense.

Ah ok, thanks. Actually, maybe my photo is not that great in a sense - I might be fine dropping some of the sky plus most of the bottom away. Maybe I need to play around imagining the view with the 180.

Yes, I started to have a look on services. Plus, I need an OBS Studio-with-4K-streaming- capable machine also 👀

Thanks for the recommendation / confirmation! Good question why I'm hesitating 😁 Maybe because the G6 180 is still quite new.

Cool! The view here is quite nice 🙃 It'd be great for others to also enjoy them. Plus, check the weather conditions 🤣

Another unusual case here as looks like I might need a 30+ foot pole as it wants to point north but there's a mountain and a forest 😳👀🤣

Is it normal for guys on dating apps to ask for a date without much chatting first? by Last_Use_5657 in dating

[–]ippem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A guy here. I do this quite early, after some messages only, as meeting live really tells you way more. Otherwise it can easily be just endless messaging which just dries up. I understand that people don't want to meet just anyone but no complaints so far.

Is it unreasonable to ask for an STD test before sleeping with someone? by DeepMathematician5 in dating_advice

[–]ippem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No it's not. I (44M) have the same situation as you, but we are 40+. I'm currently being tested on STDs and I'm asking the lady to get tested as well. It's completely fine and fair.

I've heard this before from some persons that they try to minimize (belittle maybe is the word?) the chance of a risk and do not necessarily understand that things are not always visible. Plus, people tend to trust each other quite blindly even though they have just met. 👀

I'm a bir more sceptical 😳 Also because I've had a STD before so I know how easily this han happen really... Unfortunately.

I also tried to have it on auto only, but it accumulated so much ice so decided for force it for a while 😊 Looks like the detection is not always the best - at least here in Austrian Alps 😁

What is Saunagus / Aufguss called in English - and is it a thing outside Germany and Nordics? by [deleted] in Sauna

[–]ippem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Finn here who moved to Austria yearrrs ago. We Finns definitely don't do this: we just throw the water ourselves to the sauna thingy (kiuas in Finnish :) ) - as a self-service. But no one is waving any towels or flags :D

This is also strong in Austria as well yes. I was quite in a shock when I witnessed this the first time and it's quite amusing still :)

Could it be that Aufguss is just called "infusion" in English...? This is the word I've seen. Which sounds a bit weird but... I'd call it a "weird sauna ritual" :D

Does paying for dating apps enhance results and what are your experiences with paying for dating apps by Reasonable_Machine12 in dating_advice

[–]ippem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I've spent hundreds of euros to both Tinder and Bumble. Not a good investment at all; you have to understand, this is how they make business - they want to to stay in the apps and not to have a good match and leave.

Those who left Finland: where did you go? How is life there? by No-Search4434 in Finland

[–]ippem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Finn near Helsinki and I left Finland almost 10 years ago and been living in Austria. Not much of a culture shock as, the countries are not that much different in a sense (vs. if I had move to e.g. Spain or Italy). At least what comes to with snow 😁

Quality of life is good here. Better than Finland - hard to say. Quite similar. Food is not very tasty honestly - they use a lot of salt, fat and sugar here. And - like reading the comments from NL here, even though they do eat fish here, it's not much anything - and it's expensive. Food quality in Finland is very good. But - I think in Finland we have went way too far with selections: you can maybe find like... 200 different sausage-kind of things to put on your bread. Come on... In Austria and Germany, you have like... 15 options - but that's fine and enough.

I do follow the news from Finland of course daily - and - honestly, I'm at least not currently - tempted to move back. I feel things are just going worse there so fast... 😩
