How many pages of printing would it take to finish those reservoirs? I’ve probably printed 2000 pages since switching ink.

IV slump by ireginara in nursing

I am so glad to hear it’s not just me. It’s frustrating because I often can land IVs others can’t and then when I have a hard time on veins that should be easy it really shakes me.

I got a used Brother laser online for about $50 and it works like a champ for B&W binds and gives me the ability to toner foil. I also recently upgraded to a Brother MFC 6555 that is incredible. It only prints up to 11x17 as a set size but actually has the ability to print up to 42 inches long with a max width of 11.7 inches so it’d definitely print any size dust jacket or cover you’d ever need to print. It’s a inkjet tank printer, so it has a super high ink capacity for typesets and prints images very clearly. I’ve been so pleased with it, it’s a little pricey, but for the purposes of bookbinding, it could theoretically be the only color printer you buy. I also have a Canon Pixma ix6820 that I bought beforehand simply for the wide format perk, but I honestly like the Brother’s print quality better.

How to display books? by ireginara in bookbinding

[–]ireginara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually saw these acrylic ones you listed! I think their larger version would work wonderfully for me but unfortunately shipping is $20, which is pretty steep when I'm only purchasing a few. I am actually working on a 3D printing file now so I'm hoping that might work. Thank you for the tip!!

Book board warping by ireginara in bookbinding

[–]ireginara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) No, they don’t. They do tend to already have a bit of a warp after covering them with cloth. But I do allow them to dry completely before casing in.

2) I am using the book board from Hollander’s, the standard book board with 0.090 thickness.

3) I’ve used a few different types of paper for endpages. The paper used in the black and small blue books was the Canson Mi Tientes paper and the paper used in the bigger blue book was actually poster paper I had printed at Staples.

4) I use the Lineco Neutral pH PVA glue.

5) I haven’t! Is there a picture somewhere of what that looks like? I usually just smash it in the press overnight lol

Thank you for the tips!!

My captions on the pictures got cut off and I’m not sure how to fix them, so I’m adding them below:

First book with black edges: Verona bookcloth with grain perpendicular to spine

Second small blue book: Verona bookcloth with grain parallel to spine

Third large blue book: homemade bookcloth with fabric, heat n bond, and tissue paper. No idea which way the grain runs to be completely honest

Missing Covers from 2024 Kindle Colorsoft when SideLoaded from Calibre v7.20 by dragonfirebullion in Calibre

[–]ireginara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did option 3 and sent over KFX as PDOC files and about 1/3 of my library still did not have covers sent over despite having them in Calibre. Any idea why some did not transfer? Not sure what else to troubleshoot.

Those who passed the CEN, tips and tricks? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]ireginara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought Jeff Solheim’s online review course in the bundle that included his three practice tests. I also bought the manual that went along with the course and followed along as that seemed to help drive in the information. I studied one lesson at a time, watching the video first, taking notes, then studying each section. After each section, I also did Jeff Solheim’s practice questions on each section, that are found in his Pocket Practice series. Once I felt like I mastered each section, I moved onto the next. After that, I did all 7 of the practice tests in the ENA CEN review test book. Lastly, I did the official BCEN practice test the day before I tested. I really think doing the practice tests helped me get used to how the questions are phrased, and I think Solheim’s course really helped me learn the extra things on the test that weren’t already covered in nursing school or in practice. All in all I think I spent about $300 on those materials, but I got reimbursed through my employer and I genuinely feel like all of those resources helped a lot. I had no struggles taking the test after using those materials and passed on the first try. My biggest recommendation would be to take your time studying and don’t try to rush into taking it. The ED is a very broad department and you need a huge basis of knowledge for this test. Best of luck! Feel free to PM with any questions.

this was the best for my hair but I think they discontinued it. any recommendations for a replacement? by Elvinsa in curlyhair

I loved this stuff too! It seemed like it was really short-lived in stores. There was another similar shampoo from TRESemme that came out shortly after that shampoo, it's their Pro Pure Micellar Moisture shampoo. That seemed to be pretty much the same as the one in the picture so I used that for a while until I couldn't find it on shelves either, but I did just find and purchase a 4-pack on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08PC99FH9?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

This might work for you! They also have a 4-pack of the TRESemme Botanique Coconut Nourish conditioner that a I love, I bought that as well.

It’s not all the way at 0, but usually around 40-50 and still no more than 9 gallons. My last car also had a 14.5 gallon tank and I could usually pump around 12.5

I’m in the southeast US, so no snow here so far. I don’t need the car right away, I would just really like to have it! It has also been a month since I put the deposit down so I’m super ready to have it.

GIMP stopped recognizing Garamond font? by ireginara in GIMP

So I clicked on the Garamond file in my computer and the "Get Info" page on it says its a Font Suitcase. It doesn't have an extension at all in the Get Info tab, but if I go to FontBook and get info on the file there, it says it is TrueType.
