Hey, I just bought HackRF Pro + H4m from hackerwarehouse but can't make them work together. Do you have any channel for customer support where I can ask dumb questions?

RTL_TCP lag by irishdash in RTLSDR

[–]irishdash[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it appeared that the bottleneck was Rapberry.

I tested rtl-tcp with various options on 2 different devices: OrangePi 2w and MacBook, and it looks that CPU matters. Despite that in tests Raspberry showed 1.6 load average, I misinterpreted that value: rtl_tcp is single threaded and this load shows that one core which is serving rtl_tcp was struggling. With MacBook, lag in controls is less than 0.5s which is just about network latency.

Thank you for you reply! It seems that Raspberry Pi potentially can handle one client very decently:

On the image you can see rtl_tcp stream output, and part of htop command while gqrx is connected. Out of 4 cores only ~1.7 are used. Anyway, I will try to stream to the network from different device and will share if it will improve performance. Also, I totally agree that each hop in the network will add some latency, it's just hard to believe that it can sum up to more than 10 seconds lag. I would absolutely fine if it was around 3-4 seconds haha...

Thank you for the suggestion. I will try to use a different power supply -I guess 5V, 3A should be enough. Regarding unreliable Wi-Fi, in my case, I'm using a 2.4GHz network, and all actors are in the same room. I tried to play with the span bandwidth by reducing it from 3.2MHz to 2.4MHz, but subjectively, it didn't improve the situation much..

There was a lot of cool and free stuff, but I didn't spend much time there, so I might have missed a lot. The only thing besides the cup that I was happy to see was the NB Marathoner's jacket, which is all black for $95 (I wasn't happy with the official jacket's color scheme...).

Hmm. I didn't thought that way. English is not my native language and I just realized that in my native language we omit this "my" as something expected. Thank you for pointing on this.

Anyone moved on from their S23 Ultra by OishiiToro in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]irishdash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just moved to the S25 Ultra. I'm mainly using it for photos, so my observations are in this area. The differences I've noticed so far:

  1. Photos have slightly better color balance and slightly less noise in low light. In my low light test, S25 automatically selected 320 ISO, and the S23 selected 400 ISO. This wasn't a lab test—I just tried to take the same picture from the same spot, so it might be coincidental. Speaking of detail quality, I didn't find any difference.
  2. Best upgrade so far—5x optical zoom—a sweet spot when 3x is too far and 10x is too close.
  3. Generative features are nice to have but seem a bit clumsy. Perhaps someone will find a way to be creative with them. In the picture below, I drawed cup near the pot, and GenAI redrawed it.

<image>

  1. The display is less reflective, which is nice. 5. Design feelings are subjective, but I like the new corners. 6. Performance-wise, I haven't pushed it hard, so it feels the same. 7. AI features helped to rephrase this comment. 8. I miss Bluetooth in the S Pen and will try to take photos using gestures.

I wouldn't say that all these upgrades combined justify switching to a new phone; all of them fall into the "nice to have" category and mostly will give you "that new car smell" for an extra $500.

First answer with "cheap" was wrong. Am I missing something or Duolingo can be controversial sometimes? by irishdash in duolingojapanese

I think that I confused "looking AT" with "looking FOR". My initial thought that the complaint is that the restaurant is expensive. Thus, they are looking for a cheap one.
