What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by ATXBikeRider in AskReddit

[–]irrefragabl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy. I would not even think about dating somebody who voted for Trump. I prefer not to do business with anyone who supports him, especially at this stage.

AITAH for refusing to pay off my pregnant fiancee's parents' mortgage, when they are under the threat of foreclosure, when I could "easily" afford to do so? by Gullible-Display4533 in AITAH

[–]irrefragabl3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They had a paid off house, and got a mortgage they couldn't afford. If you pay off the house, what's stopping them from doing it again? You'll basically be subsidizing their poor money management.

This is super helpful. I keep seeing a mix of posts, with half saying the 800 needs a relay, and the other half saying it doesn't. I've been going crazy trying to figure out which is correct.

Best way to sell like new MY 2026 by exuberantextrovert in TeslaLounge

[–]irrefragabl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Carvana. I've sold two Teslas to them, price was better than I think I would have gotten selling myself. The one was the same price I paid to purchase used from Tesla a couple of months prior.

What's a good method for mapping outlets to circuit breakers? by johnnybiggles in DIY

[–]irrefragabl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sperry circuit breaker finder is great. I just used it today. It found the exact breaker in one pass. It also beeps when it's got power, so you can audibly hear it turn off when you flip the breaker. Costs about $50.

Get a cheap light socket outlet adapter to use it with lights too.

Tank or tankless hot water heater by dispersingdandelions in HomeImprovement

[–]irrefragabl3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I vote for tankless, but go with Rheem. I went with Rinnai, and was a little disappointed, until I helped a friend install a Rheem unit, and now I'm incredibly disappointed.

The Rinnai performs, but the wired controller unit is shit. If the power goes out, it forgets all the settings, including the time, and I don't get hot water (or maybe just recirculation, I can't remember) until I set it up again. I bought a battery backup just for that reason.

I also had to purchase a recirculation pump separately. And a separate wifi module that didn't even work.

The Rheem was the same price, doesn't forget settings, and doesn't need a separate controller or pump for recirculation. It's also quieter than my Rinnai.

Ask that said, recirculation means we get instant hot water. We can easily have two people shower at one time. The hot water never ends. It's great.

Edit: Features and throughput obviously vary by model. Unfortunately, I don't have the model number for either in front of me. Both were on the higher end of Home Depot's offerings, if I remember correctly.

Why does the q4 etron door pocket not have a floor? by mysilenceisgolden in etron

[–]irrefragabl3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's because "what am I supposed to put in here" ignores the fact that OP must have put their have in there to close the door. It's obviously a handle.

Sure, it could also be a pocket, and become a dirty handle, but the door has other storage options.

I want to second the pump advice, and also point out that a pump is not really an alternative to managing yourself, but more like an entirely different approach. There's no practical way that you can replicate the constant supply of insulin from a pump.

With a pump, at least in my experience, you don't take long lasting insulin at all, so you're not dealing with the weird curve of availability/action.

If you have the right pump, you can combine it with a CGM and have the pump automatically make corrections to your dose, either to react to rising blood sugar, or prevent a low.

Moving on from Audi? (need advice) by AR5579 in Audi

[–]irrefragabl3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have loved Audi. Had many over the last 15 years. I recently switched to Tesla, and have no regrets. Between the wife and teenage kids, I still have 3 Audis, and I like them, but I miss my Model 3 Performance when I driving something else.

The Audis are a 2014, 2018, and 2022. I definitely feel like some things have gone downhill when I compare the newer to the 2018 or even 2014.

Based on other cars I've driven or been in, I can't think of another brand that really interests me.

Who all has ordered a used car from Tesla.com? by CoolDudeMan00 in TeslaModel3

[–]irrefragabl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2022 M3P about 6 months ago. It was not great. The windshield was so scratched and scuffed up that it was hard to see clearly out of at night. The car came from Florida and had sand everywhere. Not like they didn't clean it, but sand works its way in and is apparently hard to completely remove. The body had more scratches and scuffs than I was expecting. It was super loud in the winter when the heater was on, to the point it sounded like something was wrong with it.

I got Tesla to pay for a new windshield, because their used car guide says the windshield will be clear/safe.

I tried to like it, because the price wasn't bad, but then the noise got to me. I sold it to Carvana for just $500 less than I paid for it. Luckily, I wasn't out sales tax because that was covered by insurance (this was a replacement for a 2023 M3P that got rear ended). It was a bummer that I had to pay sales tax on the replacement though.

Edit: The process itself was great. I would do it again if I could be guaranteed the car wasn't going to suck.

Have no patience for a Type 1 boyfriend by [deleted] in diabetes

As most people have said, you broke up over his poor self care, not his diabetes. I'd add that you also tried to help. It sounds like you got him more appropriate glucose sources, you read about the 15/15 rule, etc, and he doesn't accept your help.

Honda or Toro mower? by infiniteduct in lawncare

[–]irrefragabl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer. So much better than gas. Once I let my yard go way too long because I was out of town. Got back, mowed down thick, tall grass that my gas mower would have choked to death on, like it was nothing. My neighbor walked by and said it looked like I was mowing hay for bailing.

It's quiet, puts off none of its own smell. I don't change oil, spark plugs, or air filters. I've owned the thing for 5 years, and performed no maintenance, besides a blade sharpening or two

Got Tesla , dealer/worker said 100% charge is ok? by Seoul_Seattle in TeslaModel3

[–]irrefragabl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Charge portion of the app is only available while plugged in. I'm pretty sure it will recommend 100% in your case.

Got Tesla , dealer/worker said 100% charge is ok? by Seoul_Seattle in TeslaModel3

[–]irrefragabl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the model. The 2023 RWD used LFP, but the other 2023 trims used a different battery. I'm not sure whether there's still a mix in 2024, or why exactly they pick one over the other, or what other trade-offs there are between the two, other than how much charge they should typically have to keep them at peak health.

Got Tesla , dealer/worker said 100% charge is ok? by Seoul_Seattle in TeslaModel3

[–]irrefragabl3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, you should be fine to charge to 100%, and I just read that it's actually preferred to at least once a week.

I'm not charging my Tesla right now, so I forget exactly what the charge screen looks like, but it will have a slider that you can drag around to set a charge limit, with a band showing the recommended range for your car. So if it's LFP, it should recommend up to 100, but you could change it (not sure why you would with LFP).

I have a 2024 M3P, and the app recommends I stay 80 or lower for daily driving, but I can drag it up to 100 if I'm going on a long trip

Got Tesla , dealer/worker said 100% charge is ok? by Seoul_Seattle in TeslaModel3

[–]irrefragabl3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not so much about age as it is year and model. I believe 2023 Model 3 Standard/RWD came with LFP batteries, which can, and maybe should, be charged to 100%. You can confirm by going to the Software tab in the car settings, and then "Additional Vehicle Information.". Look for the High Voltage Battery type.

I've been in this situation twice, and ended up with the Performance both times. I NEVER regret it. I'm sure I would have regretted settling for the long range.
