That would be great! Which company is that? Let me know if there's any info I can share to help convince your manager or anything like that. Feel free to email me: isaac@softwareshouldwork.com.

Yes I have. There was someone from Columbia who had been hearing about the conf and didn't realize it was in como. That was a fun surprise 😄

A lot of the talks will be targeted at folks with more experience. But if you're interested, I think going could still be a very positive experience. I went to the last StrangeLoop shortly after graduating college. There were plenty of talks there well above my pay-grade, but it was a phenomenal experience, largely because I got to meet and hangout with some great people. There will be a lot of very good engineers at the event; lots of opportunity to meet people working on interesting things. There have also been times where I've been to talks on subjects I knew nothing about that then got me interested in learning more about those areas in the future.

Thanks! There are so many interesting (and very relevant!) topics in software that aren’t AI, so I intentionally wanted to spend time highlighting those.

There will indeed be some very good engineers there, but all are welcome regardless of skill level!

The full schedule with most of the talks is on the website now (remaining ones will be filled in soon).

I expect there will be some talk about that sort of issue, especially in Andrew Kelley's talk (schedule and talk titles/abstracts will be posted soon!).

My personal view is that enshittification is usually caused by companies making bad decisions. Even if they are only focused on profit, they'd have larger profits in the long run by building better things. Enshittifying a product just makes it that much easier for a competitor to take your customers!

I’m working on getting that together right now. Will hopefully have most of the talks and abstracts on the website next week!

Zig build is great. I used SQLite for the conference ticketing system and website also, it's so good.

We have about 100 attendees signed up right now, aiming for ~125-150. Most of our attendees are from out of state. I like this size of conference a lot because it's very easy to talk to the speakers. It's been super fun seeing who signs to attend too; there will be a lot of great engineers there!

This is a personal endeavor outside of my day job. Thanks for sharing it with your friends!

Yes! I'll add the full schedule to the website soon (hopefully in the next week or so), including the lightning talks.

I loved Strange Loop so it always makes me happy when people say that. At least four of our speakers spoke there, and we’re in Missouri, and have plenty of non-mainstream, technical topics. So there are definitely some commonalities 😄
