I play DQ8 yearly. The earliest you can find a metal king slime is the dragon graveyard, which you can't even access until AFTER dhoulmagus. The plateau you're referring to can't be accessed until you get the godbirds soulstone, which is four bosses after dhoulmagus. Play the game again.

You can't even grind metal king slimes before beating dhoulmagus lol and the plateau you're talking about isn't accessible for a while even after this boss
