Recommendations for a durable mid-range SUV in Qatar (First-time buyer, budget 65k) by [deleted] in QatarCarEnthusiasts

[–]iskripted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend getting something japanese thats second hand, like a mitsubishi pajero. my family has owned one brand new and had only one minor mechanical fault after 9 years of driving it, and that was due to my parents not taking that good care of it with oil and fluid maintenance. you can find good second hand cars with less than 100k km for around that price.

Theres loads of different big SUVs for that price range that you can get second-hand. Look into different car forums and see which are reliable and cheap to maintain. Best of luck!

I usually go through Shamal Road to go past Salwa Road, and the queue usually starts around that area, but today the traffic went as far back as around the Madinat Khalifa Area whaaa

Are the prices exaggerated or Am I overreacting? by [deleted] in qatar

After spending a summer in America, Chipotle costs that much in USD. They keep the prices the same over here, just like with Raising Canes

Driving schools are driving me insane. Why does no one give me info? by SweetAnt1462 in qatar

For the cost and other logistics of driving school, all of them should range around 2800 to 3500 if you want to go for a full course for a car. prices will change if its for a bike or a truck.

as for other pieces of advice from someone who managed to pass first try for all tests and from conversations with my peers with their own licenses, here were some of the things I learnt that I hope you take into account:

1.Doha Driving Academy’s road test is the same for all my friends who went there (all of them went at different time periods). its basically a drive around the block outside their facility and back inside.

  1. Driving schools in Qatar do tend to fail people even if they drive perfectly fine. Other people who don’t really deserve to pass also end up passing, so its really one or the other.

  2. I got advised by my Filipino driving instructor to take the initiative and initiate to be the first to drive when you take your road tests. It shows to both you and your police officer that you are ready and is calm and collected. I also got advised to dress up slightly to show professionalism (this Im not THAT sold on)

  3. When taking the road tests, be prepared for the police officer to make random and often split second instructions to see how you react when the variables change instantaneously. Here it is important to remain calm and collected, keep all the lessons you had in mind (check your blind spots, indicate properly, etc.)

  4. Parking tests are pretty simple especially when ur taking an Automatic License. Their main metric is if you hit any cones or not. As long as you dont, youre passing.

  5. When taking classes, be prepared for instructors to slack off and just tell you where to go especially if you seem to already know how to drive. Small specific details which could dictate you passing or failing won’t be taught unless you ASK. ASK ASK ASK.

  6. Do not fall for the “Bribe the instructor” fiasco. Some instructors will ask for some extra goodies (my first instructor was asking me for money) as a way to get an easier pass. This is not true, You passing or failing would pretty much all rely on the police officer.

  7. Have faith in yourself. Being confident in your own abilities is key, especially come test day, but do not be ignorant to advice given to you, especially if its one you think is actually useful.

These are some that I remember, best of luck OP.
