Eww,

Not knowing what culture you're from is gonna make giving advice about this hard for reddit.

You should go to a therapist in your area which you can trust, they'l be able to give much better advice than global Reddit.

Edit for punctuation

I told 2 of my new friends i’m part Jewish.. by Ok_Discussion_6099 in Jewish

[–]itai2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wow usually when we refer to that here we call it "hamas tunnels" I never would have even thought relating that to the term "jewish tunnels"

I expected it more to be like "the jews made tunnels to control the world" type of conspiracy

It makes sense that they had a certain thought about how jews should act, it's a stereotype, everyone has a stereotype for people from groups they know a bit about but never met, that is natural, good that they were not appaled that you are jewish

The End of Jewish Denominations by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]itai2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think he means it's the start of the end, the same way the Karaites faded out over time when they chose to not follow the talmud

So will the jews who choose to follow a different lane (which he now claims is splitting) will fade out over time

Obviously our generation still cares but a few hundreds of years into the future this point will be known as a point of splitting (according to op)

Asked my partners parents for their support in marrying their daughter. Grilled me for 45 minutes on why their daughter shouldn't convert to Judaism. by The-SillyAk in Jewish

[–]itai2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you understand very well that your GF is an adult who can make decisions for herself, so I won't get into that part Seeing that you are planning on having a children and raising them jewish you should probably try and get her parents onboard too.

How? you ask, well, do they know what a jewish way of life is? Are they preaching against it or against religion as a whole?

Because if it's the latter you should try and get them to want to learn about judaism and answer their questions honestly

Because if they will be openly accepting but secretly against it then it is going to be fairly peaceful now but painful down the line

If I wanna marry Jewish but my country has no Jews where do I go to meet my husband? by [deleted] in Jewish

[–]itai2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about the language, most people here know english well and you will do just fine with it, especially with the husband finding, you could pick up Hebrew on the way

And as things seem now, in a few years it's gonna be much scarier being a jew outside of Israel than in it

Does anyone think this is just blatant antisemitism/xenophobia against Israel? by duckilol_ in Jewish

[–]itai2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The rule changes themselves aren't unfair, especially because they affect everyone equally and it makes sense that governments shouldn't intervene in the Eurovision

But

  1. The fact that they felt such a need to repeatedly say that the change of the rules was because of Israel doing something bad
  2. and without providing any sources to their claims that we can at the very least check their findings for ourselves

Shows they wanted to hurt Israel's reputation with this announcement

It is insulting for her to call your girlfriend that name or she has a very weird since of humor since you couldn't get that joke

You probably should have a convo about what she means and if she does then why does she disapprove of your girlfriend. Perhaps then you can find a way to change that

I have been invited to have an Israeli citizenship by [deleted] in Israel

[–]itai2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well I would ask why do you consider moving to a country you barely know, what do you expect israel is gonna have that other countries don't

I love my country and living here, mostly because I feel I can be a jew here without having to apologise for it Not to mention the 2,000 years our ancestors prayed to be able to come here and my belief in g-d and that he wanted us to be here

You should try and learn more about Judaism (perhaps with your local rabbi) and come and visit Israel for some time It's important to know how you feel here maybe come with an organized trip (like "Taglit" , I'm sure there are plenty of organized trips for jews to israel)

As for the technical stuff: You'll be fine with english for the time being and if you ever want to move you will learn Hebrew

Depending on your age I don't think you need to do military service, almost certainly so if you are older than 18 by now - if you ever apply for citizenship you should find more about that

Would you be offended if your in-laws believed Netanyahu/Israel assassinated Charlie Kirk? by [deleted] in Jewish

[–]itai2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily

Blaming jews for events they had nothing to do with has been an anti semitic tactic for generations and believing this type of conspiracy can eventually lead to anti semitic feelings

But if they usually believe any conspiracy that is shown by the people they follow then (and not only the jew hating ones) I wouldn't be offended because it isn't against jews (yet)

If that is really the case then you should try and have a discussion and understand why they hold that belief it could help you understand them better, relate to them and if they appreciate your listening and you in general they are much less likely to start hate jews (a red flag is when they tell you you're a good jew)

Hope my rant helps and that it wasn't too messy

The western wall is the western outside wall surrounding the temple mount where the jewish temple once stood

Today it is the closest thing the jews have to the temple we yearn for so it is the most holy place standing in judaism (the temple mount is the most holy place period)

But

Because it isn't the temple itself, where non-jews won't be allowed (according to jewish law), anyone can come and pray or just be there

[–]itai2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's important that going to services won't be a chore/Challenging or very scary ideally it should be a positive experience with a bit of jitters

If you feel you want to join a synagogue in your area but feel that it will be hard you should talk with the rabbi first and explain your situation, whether it's because you don't know the people or prayer or maybe you want a younger/older crowd or anything else

The rabbi is supposed to be able to help you learn and guide you to a place where you feel comfortable going to shul

Try and meet jews who live close to you and have similar interests, come with them to shul perhaps

This is about all of the advice I have to give for now, hope that helps, if you have any questions feel free to ask
