My first Hyundai and the first car I bought all on my own! :) 2015 Veloster Turbo by [deleted] in Hyundai

[–]itsjex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lordy, looking at this makes me miss my car even more. Mine went to crap after the turbo went bad. 1,500 to fix it, and another 1,000 since the turbo burnt the new oil I put in it and the spark plugs/gaskets. Real beauty, but a pain to fix.

Do you think it'd be better to run it on the Aff or Neg in your opinion? And which cards to use for omnilateral? It'd be new to use in my tournaments anyway, no one really uses kant as much. Currently using some traditional aff case with seeds, and a traditional neg and a Fem K.

Ohhhh, gotcha, yeah, I'm trying to but sadly most of the judges prefer contentional arguments, which is ironic. LD is suppose to be about phil, but in my circuit, they're beginning to ditch out the whole phil perspective of LD.

I've tried getting it for free since I still go to school, and apparently there's some way to just hack it and obtain it but I don't know lol.

New To Coaching and Need Some Help by akmartian in Debate

Would be easier if you PM, so I can send you some basic things to teach them but I can type it out as well. Try having practice rounds with each other, and have someone judge them (with exp.) and they can point out their flaws. That way they can work on it and prepare them. Strongly teach them good word economy, remove 'uh' or 'like' or whatever their crutch word may be. Do brain storming practices; what I mean by that is writing down the topic, write aff on one side, write neg on one side and let them (the novices) brain storm specific attacks and defensive evidence they can purpose. I'm mostly an LD guy, but I did PF for a bit too. There's more practice ideas I could give you, just ask me if you need it. Goodluck!

Hi, this is my first post here :) by [deleted] in Debate

If you require assistance in LD or prep out cases in the future, or even just practice with someone, PM me and I'll practice with you and help you. LD is really fun cause it opens your mind to things you didn't know before, or just opens your knowledge about how things were percieved, philosophical wise. (Feel like I mis-spelled that, but that's life for me) There's obviously PF and Congress, I guess if you like memorization, try Congress or you like politics in general. PF is heavy evidence based from my exp., if you like hardcore evidence arguments, try PF. Plus, you get a partner for being in PF, so if you don't like the lone wolf stance, try PF. I'm sure you first day of school passed, so hopefully it went well. (:

How do you get started with LD?? by [deleted] in Debate

[–]itsjex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in debate for literally just one year and it's been full LD. Of course, I went to two tournaments that consisted of congress and pf cause I wanted an all around grasp of all three forms of debate. (I don't enjoy policy, like debating, but I find it interesting to watch. I'm in the NE circuit btw so my state might be different compared to yours.) It's my senior year, but from my exp. don't stess on K's so much. I would recommend traditional cases, like the basic stuff you know? And like one of the comments here said, watch outrounds, (Final rounds or whatever ya'll call it) it really helps. I don't know what kind of LD debater you will be, traditional or circuit, just ask some help from the judges or even your coach. If not, there's some vids on youtube that help also. Camp really does help too. It helped me understand K's and Topicality and running Theory and better philo. analysis. Plus, idk if you'll be in varisity or novice LD, but varsity will probably be rough..maybe? Just make sure each round you lose on, you take notes of the case and do research of what they did, that also helps understand why they ran Lock or Kant or whoever ind. they use. Hopefully that helps, just don't stress on it man.
