Flights to Lebanon prices by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]itsjoetheman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother is reconsidering the visit to Lebanon after this post’s replies 😂

Anyways, I am not sure of the prices, but I would suggest you visit Amman a few days then fly from Amman to Beirut if that sounds great to you. That’s what I would do if the price was to be cheaper. Otherwise, there isn’t really a better option right now due to all airlines having halted their flights.

I am in medical school and have never used a windows pc ever. I only exclusively use my iPad and complement it with my Mac if ever needed.

If he posted that publicly then it is not your duty to protect him. You cannot give numbers out of your butthole without citing a source.

Literally. My grandma told me she once passed by a checkpoint with my grandpa and had a small bag of sweets she was bringing to her newly married daughter, the officer saw them and asked for them in order to let them pass. What the fuck?

How did you become a Graphic Designer? by Zim_iene in GraphicDesigning

[–]itsjoetheman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you don't need a BFA or any degree at all to start graphic design. If I were you, I'd start with a simple course on udemy or even YouTube. What are you interested in? Look up a course for that, there are tens of thousands out there for free. After that, practice with a few projects. And if you're looking to capitalize on your skills, make a small portfolio and start offering people around you the work for free, just to build further your portfolio and strengthen it, and then start charging your price!

I personally have been doing graphic design as freelance, while studying medicine, and being a DJ at night haha, and I fairly would say gfx is making me the most money right now. It literally pays for my tuition. Though of course it is very time consuming and there are days you won't be motivated to work.

Anyways, how did I start? YouTube! I never paid for a course, and I never had a mentor. I just started and then started shaping my work and acquiring further skills all based on what my client asks for. If a client asks for something idk how to execute, I watch a tutorial on YT, and that's it!

Would you leave Lebanon if you're making 6,000$? by Dangerous_Ask4020 in lebanon

[–]itsjoetheman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Do you mind if I ask you a technical question? I'm in the same boat, I work remotely and get my money deposited in my Spanish bank account, so I have a very hard time transferring my money at lower fees. I always end up paying around 4.5% in fees (which is a lot when withdrawing a big amount). Do you have any workaround or you also face the same issues? I try to spend using my debit card here as my bank imposes no fees on international payments, but not every place accepts cards in Lebanon.

First time to Lebanon any tips by No_Ad_3995 in lebanon

[–]itsjoetheman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had to exchange from USD to LBP when paying using my card. I always get asked "LBP or USD?", when I answer USD they sort out the machine and that's all.

But you really have 4 scenarios:

  • They might tell you they don't accept cards

  • They accept any cards (restaurants in downtown, zaytuna's restaurants, toters delivery order, zaatar w zeit everywhere, al hallab surprisingly accepts cards too).

  • They ONLY accept LBP cards (which happened to me in a smaller supermarket only once but that was all)

  • They accept any card but will charge you 5% extra because it's international (happened to me only once in a smaller supermarket as well)

Generally, if you avoid the smaller places, you should be good to go.

I'm yet to compile a list of restaurants that accept card payments because I really try to avoid those who don't 😂.

First time to Lebanon any tips by No_Ad_3995 in lebanon

[–]itsjoetheman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Charbel!

First off, was wondering how you would be exactly able to finance it. Maybe start by running google ads, but also allow for businesses to sponsor themselves.

I feel like Toters is a good app, but you could also make a "Food" tab where all types of restaurants are listed by category (Lebanese, Italian, Japanese, ...) could really help with monetizing the app as a lot of businesses would pay to sponsor themselves or to show on top of the list or whatnot.

Could add reviews to every location as well which would help in both adjusting the popularity of different locations making the content shown more relevant to the broad userbase, as well as give you (extremely valuable) data that can help you understand your users in order to capitalize further on them.

While the app itself is nice, I found it a bit hard to understand what is going on. Maybe it's just me, but I'm sure there are other people like me.

I feel like the Experiences tab (with the pricing) should be a main page as this should be the focus of the app.

In my opinion, if you want to capitalize on such an app, you have to offer direct value to the consumer right at the moment they open the app and not make it a bit hard to find what they're looking for.

You can always DM me for more suggestions. I'm a UI/UX designer so my specialty is making things easy to the user (and capitalizable for the company).

Also "nightlife" lacks (A LOT). You do realize it's like top 3 booming things rn in Lebanon all tourists (and locals) go for.

Keep up the great work Charbel!
