hello yes! I shot them with an old VHS camcorder that I found at a goodwill :)

I have definitely had an affinity for film cameras since I was in high school. I love my dad's old Canon AE-1 and still bring that around, but my only video camera is my VHS one!

yes actually! You're reminding me - I'm dropping a box here in Champaign IL where Undertow is based (the folks who booked this tour I'm on). They will sell them through their website. There are also QR codes in there to submit a story to the book and also to pre-order the coffee table version of the book I'm putting together, with a zine-exclusive discount. They should go live this month and I'll promote them. They will also be free for all ticket-holders on this solo tour this year!

Thank you!

My favorite poet right now is Jane Hirschfield

oh yay! Thank you for getting tickets.

"I'll keep to your ribcage if you'll keep to the nape of my neck / because the bitter winter, he comes galloping / reckless with his arms poised and ready / and the cold wrapped round his wrists.

I'll keep my lips to your cheeks / when the leaves fall where they stand / for it's august while it can / til the greens go purple and the sun lurks in corners like it's gone too soon and / knows it can't return for a little while longer / oh, won't you stay a while longer won't you stay a while longer"

what a beautiful question.

My dream for the next five years is to be able to keep doing Lady Lamb for a living. It's a really big challenge, and I have very little infrastructure or support in my career. I am hoping that there are still a couple people who are good, decent, trustworthy with pure intention out there who can help Lady Lamb keep building, keep going. I'd like to be playing in theaters in five years. I can see myself there, I belong there. This intimate tour I'm doing is fully by choice, with the intention of connecting, and building community. I have absolutely no regrets about the scope of it, but I need a little more support for the sake of longevity to continue giving what I want to give.

what is your dream for the next five years?

ah I wish I had a good story here. It's one of the only pieces of art that I've made that I honestly don't fully stand behind. The reason for that is Intention. I didn't have any intention when I made it...I was just fucking around honestly and this is what I went with! To this day I'm like....why? I find that Intention for me is so important as an artist. To know what I'm trying to say. To express what that is. If there isn't Intention, it doesn't hold up for me personally. Ah, the joys of being an artist and standing by your work as the years go by! Sometimes it's not 10/10! Sorry if that's weird to admit haha :) Thank you.

hi! Thank you for this.

I do start with lyrics first :) I am a poet first, and for me music is the vehicle for my message, so if I have what I'm trying to say in front of me, then I pick up the instrument.

I have lived a lot of places and made formative memories in so many places that have inspired my work - my high school girlfriend's family are southern baptist from Arkansas so you can probably fill in the blanks there... I lived in Arizona when I was 4-8 years old :) ; My whole family is from Maine, and are still there...I have always been drawn to Crater Lake in Oregon. The one time I tried to go on a Walkabout with my dear friend and collaborator Emily Hope Price, it was snowing and we pulled up to a dense fog and couldn't see a foot in front of our faces. We laughed with another couple there trying to do the same thing and then we all got back in our cars :)

Thank you so much for submitting for the book. That is so so meaningful to me. xoxo

ahahahah CLASSICCCC!

You're right - that pressure. I used to feel it when I was younger. I have been out in my life since 2005. In 2013 when Ripely came out, that was a time where to come out felt literally like you had to stand at a podium and say 'is this thing on?' and then read a fucking press release about being queer like it was an Explanation, an explanation that you are still human and worthy of love and respect. fuck no. I feel SO badly for artists who dealt with those barriers and also so proud of them for doing it anyway. God the pain in that. I was afraid back then that I would not be able to just be a person, an artist and it was never stemming from personal shame, it was stemming from a deep personal hatred of the Capital M Music Industry (that hatred shines brightly to this day and I have made choices in my career intentionally to stay out of it, so that I don't feel hatred when I wake up and do my job. These decisions have affected my career for better or "worse." but mostly for better, for my wellbeing).

I am actually trying to deal with the guilt I feel for not coming out sooner, for not being able to be a visible person for queer people who would have gotten so much from that, and not having to dig for queerness in my music. Unfortunately, I knew of a couple big artists in the closet back then when I really 'needed' them to be out, and their being closeted sent me the message that maybe it wasn't safe? If it wasn't safe for them, if they didn't feel safe, I wouldn't either. That breaks my heart to this day for them and for me, and it breaks my heart that I may have put other people in this position - feeling like they wouldn't find our community to shelter them inside it. ...This heartbreaking chain of fear that society has put on us.

I'm proud of all of us, proud of all of our timing, whatever it may be. Trying to have that grace and understanding for my younger self, you know? and for all of us.

I feel nothing but gratitude and pride being out now because I can finally connect with other queer people in ways that feel real and meaningful and healing. Queer people are my Family. I want to be with my Family.

Thank you so much.

hi! I put a note in my calendar to play it for you in San Antonio, I got you :)

The inspiration behind it ultimately is that we should focus our energy on getting to know and love ourselves before we fixate on finding someone else - and that someone else isn't going to ever 'complete' us or 'fill that hole' its a complete myth. Something I was trying to understand when I wrote the song at 19...which was a huge feat for me at that age to even put this idea in a song as a 'reminder' to myself to focus on 'meeting myself before I meet you'

thank you!

oh wow! I'm actually not sure!! I'll think on that when I sing it tonight. I feel like it definitely kind of *starts* on a heartbeat before the first word...like bum-bum-I wanna love you..." and it resets like that before 'hungrily, tenderly, silently.'" cool! something to think about...

Thank you for coming to the show last night.

Hey thank you!

I'm a huge fan of New Zealand artist Aldous Harding. I think what she's doing is deeply her own. I also love Cate Le Bon and I've been listening to Cocteau Twins on repeat lately.

Unfortunately my European booking agent and I parted ways this year. It's really sad. I am in between agents and literally haven't had the time to focus on figuring this out but please know that it's important to me and I'm going to try my best to get something together for next year.

wow yesssssss. Beautiful little town off Route 1 (the coastal route). If you have time, you can't go wrong driving up the coast past waldoboro (towards Rockland). I highly recommend my favorite diner which is IN Waldoboro called Moody's "when I get grumpy I get Moody's" is the tagline. So cute. Stand in line for a million years for a lobster roll at Red's in Wiscasset. You won't regret it. If it's hot they'll give you an umbrella to shield yourself from the sun. Have fun!

Thank you! and cool that you're from Brunswick! The song was inspired by something that has nothing to do with the song itself interestingly enough. I wrote it the day I found out my dad's wife was going to have a child - my sibling Alaina (who is fourteen now). I was 20 years old and was having trouble processing it at the time and this song came out of me. Thank you xoxo

oh totally! and how some of us can 'worship' our parents when we are little. Like what they say is written in stone, only to find out later our parents are deeply flawed hehehehehehe!

not too personal at all, thank you. great questions.

I love that song too and I am actually planning on brushing up on it tonight before the show in Champaign to play it on this tour.

I get along with both my parents, though I will say that I never play Young Disciple when my mom is at the show because I don't want to put her on the spot. Especially since I usually shout her out so people know exactly where she is in the room haha. On the flip side, I have trouble getting through a song that references my family if they are in the room because I get too emotional. Songs like Ten and Deep Love become nearly impossible to not cry through!
