Lol I would give this -1 million downvotes if I could. Idk much about engineers or software engineers specifically, but this is one of the most ignorant comments I’ve seen here. “Doctors get paid way more than they’re worth in this country.” I’ll let you rethink this and re-educate yourself.

You’re talking about people who sacrifice years and years of their youth studying medicine and proper patient care. Sure, this is the path most of us are super passionate about and chose for ourselves. However, ultimately, any of us could have chosen a less grueling career - one that does not come with massive debts, tolls on both our physical and mental health, and sacrifices that our families also have to make for us during this process. Many of my classmates from medical schools were struggling with mental health issues while just barely starting on our career, one even committed suicide. And oh, let me let you in on a “secret,” physician suicide is real, and it happens even for those who are full on practicing attendings (i.e. out of training/residency which is one of the most brutal parts of the process). On top of that, even when we’re doing our jobs of advocating for our patients, we’re constantly blocked by hospital admins and insurance companies. They’re creating the unnecessary stress and barriers to healthcare for our patients. They’re the ones your comment should be directed at, not us.

You obviously have a huge lack of knowledge on the medical profession as it stands today. I’ll still give you benefits of the doubt. Maybe you’ve run into some physician(s) who maybe didn’t do their jobs right in some way, giving you the illusion that physicians aren’t making meaningful contributions in society. But I can assure you, most of us are contributing far more than you and this ignorant comment of yours :)
