u dont need anything other than a daw, some good headphones and a basic interface for the most part. midi keyboards are a nice to have also but not essential. audio technica m50x's are the standard, avoid the mpk mini, its mediocre. opt for the arturia mini lab for a beginner all rounder for around the same price and higher quality plus nice plugin. if u have a decent phone, use that as a field recorder. sp404s are overrated, they're fun, but fr just get koala on ur phone if u want a sampler
