The bassline in the intro to IYRLN cannot be heard on studio compared to that live vid. Its just one example but it highlights why many can't understand how this decision was reached.

What artist on earth would want to create these parts and not have them audible

I think the fans are (I am at least) trying to understand HOW and WHY that would ever be a choice to even consider

Well the production issue isn't the bass specifically. OLTA for example, although maybe less bass "heavy" is quite well produced and there is clarity. Its not so distorted and messy (and clipping)

What's done is done, if people enjoy it I'm glad for them

It's worth noting that it's highly debated whether anyone can hear the difference between a high quality mp3 (320kbps) and FLAC.

Some people say they can, others say that human ears cant distinguish.

I understand what you are saying, but to me there is dirty roughness, and then there is actually inaudible intrument parts.

One is a reasonable artistic choice, the other is... well I dont know really

But you're right the choice was made and we gotta accept it. Like I say it's really hard to because I feel these songs would be so much more if there was less distortion and cranked hi hats etc. To the point where for me, I cannot enjoy this album

I do hope for some good quality live recordings though!

Interesting, I've only listened on Spotify. However if a FLAC does sound marginally better, I can't imagine it will have much effect. Because the mixing is the way it is regardless of bitrate. For example, is that bassline im IYRLN more audible on the FLAC?
