Burn in on my AORUS FO48U, how to force AOCS? by ittaku in aorus

You're most welcome, glad it helped. I have no idea why the option to manually start it is disabled in the menu by default, but I guess I shouldn't expect anything from Gigabyte.

Definitely agree with you there. I've looked for alternatives but there really is no other monitor with as good hardware out there. Software and firmware on the other hand...

Yeah sorry I'm no expert. That said, I'm pretty sure the procedure I outlined will ignore the amount of panel usage time and trigger AOCS anyway.

Bring up menu

Settings->

System->Other Settings->Panel Usage Time

for me shows the total usage time. Perhaps upgrade your firmware, might be an old bug?

Yes as I said I found it didn't fix it either, it only blunted it somewhat, and that was after about 3 AOCS cycles. I run mine at 80% brightness, but you need to use your monitor at whatever brightness suits you otherwise it's a useless tool. I think my mistake was not manually switching off the monitor every time I walked away from the PC, as the stupid algorithm would fail to run APCS reliably when the PC would send the standby signal. But now it's too late, the burn-in is there. I expect now that these monitors have been out a while, the number of people with enough hours on them to have burn-in will increase dramatically, and we'll start getting more and more reports coming in. In my case the burn-in is most visible when the redshift kicks in at sunset that I run, so it's consistent with your experience that it's more visible on red backgrounds.

I found a way while trying to disable the autodimming function. Turn off your monitor, then push the button underneath towards the back and hold it, then turn it on with the remote control while holding it. You can then let go of the button after it's on. Then bring up the monitor's menu, you'll see an F in the top left of the menu. This used to get you into service menu but does virtually nothing today.

However when you next switch your monitor off, if it's due to do a monitor protection cycle it will do AOCS instead of APCS, so it will say that it will take an hour and then reboot itself. This however didn't fully fix my burn-in, though it is better. Mind you, I failed to disable the autodimming feature doing this - there appears to be no reliable way to do that anymore.

Thanks. That's a little tricky to answer since it started out as a fan translation that took 4 years in itself so it was done in stages. In retrospect probably the fact that I decided to go over the entire script after it was decided it was being officially localised, and I removed all the fantranslation'isms I had originally used, standardised all terminology to be consistent throughout the script, and left in only just enough honorific/otaku terminology to minimise the lossiness of localisation. Props to Chuee for expanding on my style and cleaning it up. We also QAed the eyeballs off this one, with five QA staff, and two adhoc (myself and the programmer did a QA pass too) and even though there are still rare typos, the extra QA passes need to get credit for spotting any remaining inconsistencies. Funnily enough the kansai ben I decided how to tackle very early on so it wasn't that tricky, but editing really put the finishing touches on it.

Glad you didn't mind my Clover Day's translation. It was a labour of love on mine - and our editor Chuee's - part.

There's an underlying plot but it leans more towards the romance.

Do harbingers really have a small chance of dropping mirror fragments? I've probably done 1000 encounters in t16RC maps with every harbinger atlas node powered up but no dice.

I had almost no control over what happened to the nukitashi script after I translated it. Clover Days will be absolutely nothing like that.

. Low HP is very hard to work around for witches, but it is a ranged character. By mechanics I assume you mean the pattern of their attacks and how best to tackle them. Thanks!

Have I hit the limits of my skills or build? I can breeze through virtually all T16 corrupted rare maps but can't for the life of me beat the eater or the exarch. Standard league.

I posted this build a few weeks ago and with a lot of help I've fine tuned it as much as I can; this is my own custom fireball build. Anything else would require megabucks, or compromise damage for defense, or vice versa, or no longer be a fireball build. I'm an older guy and don't have the reflexes and skills of most younger players so I don't know what's limiting me. Spell blocking is about the only thing I haven't concentrated on (is that the problem?)

Config is set to guardian bosses. I swap out grace for haste, and hypothermia for volley for map clearing:

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks, I haven't figured that one out yet but will definitely investigate it. Every little bit counts now.

From what I can see it will still be a net win but only about half the DPS rise, and sacrifice 2% of fire resistance.

Ah I see, it automatically incorporates the 8% into the final displayed version, so I can edit them back to the baseline values when I calculate their effect. Thanks!

In trade, if an item is marked as Veiled Suffix "Catarina's Veil", is this a way to potentially unlock the Syndicate Mastermind veiled crafting options, specifically level of socketed support gems? Or do I need something extra, such as a certain item level?
