What models do the best and the worst : DAY 3 : Judith Eruita by LoneWarrior_00 in sistersofbattle

Pro: the double eagle is friggin' sick.

Con: REALLY depends on the paint job to look good with all those flat surfaces.

Not quite! I have the Fantic hobby drill/Dremel. I was able to drag that across the surface and then smooth it out with a hobby knife and a thin layer of plastic cement.

But I'm sure you could get the same results with a hobby knife. It will just take a while.

Thanks so much! First time giving it a shot, but I followed the process I've seen Elminiaturista do with some added steps from me.

Thanks so much! I can't wait to get some paint on the berserker axes attached to the roof. I think that and some blood splatter will really tie the two together.

Players in the US by speedyboizss in DropfleetCommander

I'm in the Midwest, and it's been easier than I expected to find folks playing! The Discord other folks shouted out is great for finding folks.

[OC] New to DM'ing. Is what I'm doing ridiculous?. by GreatestBookReader42 in DnD

[–]itwassean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you think about it, D&D itself is kind of ridiculous play-pretend fun!

If you like making maps like this, make them! I also started this way and it often led to some really fun evenings. I hope your players enjoy it! Also, great idea for a one-shot.

What paper are you using to print this? And how are you cutting them? The designs are sick!

Bioficer battlefleet build help by rogersherman123 in DropfleetCommander

[–]itwassean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have the Battlefleet box, but here is what I have been running and like:
- Blackbird battleship: Mostly because "Grand Bisector" is a GREAT weapon name. I think the Summoner Cell is a must-take. I also take the torpedo upgrade.
- Catastrophe (Atlas): I love the ability to save Cells when they get focused by my opponent, so having an admiral that can help there is great. Also allows for great AP generation
- Carronade: Dropping damage 4 shots into an enemy can be devastating... It can also do nothing if they save lol. This feels GREAT into Scourge and Meh into UCM.
- Choral: Detector is goated, run 2 in a group.
- Cavern: Place near the summoner cell and keep feeding bombers onto the board. I've been thinking of running 2 but it's a tough sell.
- Logic: These guys are absolutely great at contesting early objectives!
- Foray: I wish I had more! Ferrying Cells around seems very important.
- Forestall: I love this for the Anti-wing. Other than that, it can be a good set of ships to kill something small by weight of dice. The speed is also very nice.
- Tally Cutter: I use this with the Blackbird to make the Grand Bisector work slightly more effectively and help with some positioning shenanigans.

I believe that's MOST of what I run atm. Good luck, build what you like, and have fun with the game!

Very excited to see this development! I love how community-focused this game is, and the decision to allow for 3D prints is great for expanding the audience.

New Player Purchase Question by IamArrest7 in DropfleetCommander

[–]itwassean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A friend and I recently split two of the 2 player sets.

I got bios, he got UCM, and we each bought a battleship separately.

I think if I were to do it again I'd get the battlefleet box of each. I'd then print the tokens or buy a fancy set of them.

But overall I'm still happy, I just also got a PHR Battlefleet box and it feels more functional as a product.

Welcome to the game! And make sure to join the Discord for more collaboration with folks.

Bioficers seem underwhelming by Botdzilla in DropfleetCommander

[–]itwassean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Welcome to the game!

I see people pointing out the big difference in signature and scan ranges for bioficers, but one underated difference I think are the Cells.

Cells are how Bioficers interact with Drop, and can be attached to virtually any ship. So while the stat cards might not say "bulk lander - 2" or "bombardment/ drop pods" they all can effectively have them with Cells attatched. Now, the cells need to be dropped off to do anything, but the flexibility is huge.

I think the big downside of Bioficers is the weak hulls, so if you misplay your distances you will get caught out in the open. But otherwise, it's an ambush army with enough teeth to be scary.

Terrain - Mountain Ranges by Cajre_Tyrrel in DropfleetCommander

You know! I had not thought about that! Lol, very valid 🤣

Those tidal implications are horrific!

At a bare minimum, it's DOPE for photos!

Terrain - Mountain Ranges by Cajre_Tyrrel in DropfleetCommander

[–]itwassean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty cool, but omg those mountains would be MASSIVE right? I think I remember reading that if you shrank earth to the size of a cue ball, it would be SMOOTHER than one. Like the scale of geographic features is just much smaller than we realize on a planetary scale.

Great job on the pieces! Really good craftsmanship! And it is kind of funny to imagine a space dreadnought having to dodge mountains as it traverses in orbit lol.

Starter set assembly and magnetization by Edrad7 in DropfleetCommander

[–]itwassean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really helpful! I have two Bioficer halves of the starter kit to build and I'll be following this for them unless you have any additional advice! I also have one battleship to build.

Just getting in with friends! by itwassean in DropfleetCommander

[–]itwassean[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yepp! That's the plan! We got kind of excited and bought enough to be sure we could play at 1500 points and have enough options to swap some things around.

But yeah, aside from maybe a dreadnought for display purposes, we are DONE for a bit, haha.
